BMW Key Fob Roof Down
Hi Fellas,
Really hoping someone on here can offer me some advice, would be much appreciated. I have a BMW 1 Series 118i cabriolet 2013 3 Door 2L and was wondering if I am able to put the roof up with the key? I am able to put the roof down using the key by holding the unlock button but cannot put the roof back up again by holding the lock button on the key? Is there anything I can do about this as it seems it’s something you should be able to do. Thanks all! |

Have you tried holding down the lock "grid" on the door handle? Assuming you have comfort access. Germans don't like being able to close things when the operator can be distracted. Opening doesn't usually hurt anyone. Since the windows also close when the top goes up, they don't want you to pinch anyone. Worth a try.

My understanding is that if you have Comfort Access, you can code the top open/close with the key. So it sounds like you just need to code the rest of it. Assume you have CA?
Without CA, there is a module you can buy that enables this and some other functionality, like opening and closing the windows from the key fob. I did that for my car, was about $300. But for the life of me I can't remember where I ordered it from.

@Krhodes1, How do I check for comfort access? If it does have comfort access how can I code this onto the car? Would I need an OBD to USB Type A adapter and some type of software on a laptop? What would the software be called?
Thank you |

BMWCCA1 , I removed the locking mechanism the other day to replace the puddle light under the door handle and there is no wiring to it so I’m assuming this wouldn’t work if that’s the case. Thanks for your help though mate

Do you need to put the key in slot before pressing the start/stop button on your car? If yes, you do not have comfort access. If no, you should see little raised ridges on the stationary portion of the outside door handle. This is where you'd touch the spot to lock/unlock the car with the key in your pocket (also part of comfort access). If you hold your finger on that spot, the top should go up after you lock the car. If it doesn't then you would need to activate that feature through coding. This can easily be done with an app and a ODB to Bluetooth dongle from either Carly or Bimmercode. If no comfort access, you'll want a smart top module from MOds4Cars. I have one in my 911 and it is awesome. Here is the link to the one you'd want for the 1er: https://www.motivemods.com/Mods4Cars...4c-stlfbw4.htm |
