just spend 379$ get the JB stage 1. Takes 1 minute to install and then remove it if you visit the dealership. Pretty noticeable difference in sport+ from 3500rpm+ vs ppk ...under normal driving no difference whatsoever. If you get bored, the JB has great resale value you can easily sell it. I'm not associated with JB but it was the easiest cheapest, biggest bang for your buck mod on the 335i. The torque is crazy, the car lifts up I looooooove it....now i Want to get a downpipe and JB4 stage 2, Meistershaft exhaust is on the way! And this is all on a leased car lol

I think you hit the nail on the head. I have both and Honestly, after a week or so of stage 2, downpipe and meth, Im starting to think stage 1 might be the safer/better bet over the MPPK. The mod/power bug bites and when it does its often hard.

Just a word on why BMW is offering the MPPK with "only" such a "small" power gain.

Don't know about the US/Canada but in Europe countries a power gain of up to 10% is allowed without the need for re-testing the car at the respective DMV.
Any tuning with a power gain higher than 10% will need individual testing and approving.
So the BMW Power Kits offered go without that additional time and finance investment, and therefore is a suitable legal way for us customers.

That's because 10% are agreed as engine production tolerance.

New to this site. Can you or someone please explain what a JBstage 1 is and or the JB4 stage 2 and down pipe etc?

From reading all the reviews, the MPPK is much better than a JB stage 1...
Please advise.

Depends on what you define as better. JB4 Stage 1 has more HP and Torque than the MPPK, but it doesn't have stickers. Stage 2 takes over more control of the car and has more features, adds a bit more power/tq 'under the curve' over stage 1, but it's real features start to kick in when you add a DP/racing fuel/ E85 (or other mods) and can use Map 2 or others. Map 2 and a DP will turn your car into a different animal, putting down over 400tq to the wheels and 360ish hp? I forget the exact numbers, but you can see it on the website or the forums. Good enough where at least one person is running 11.9 in the quarter mile from these forums. Think his only mods were DP, JB4 Stage 2 and Drag Radials.

Getting the JB4 will allow the mod bug to hit you harder than the MPPK, so that's another downside.
