M2C interior trim options: Black high-gloss??

Hey... is anyone else seriously considering building theirs with the Black high gloss trim instead of the matte carbon trim?

I am trying desperately to find pictures online but have been so far unsuccessful.

Any other's thoughts? ideas? or pictures on this....

Thanks!

But why wouldn't you want the burnt wicker trim.

I went to see a Hockenheim in person at my dealer the other day. It had the black trim. And a sunroof lol. It's the only picture I took but here you go. P.S, not sure why it's showing up blurry. It's completely clear on my phone

I have chosen this option. I think the inside looks more clean with it. Even if you choose the carbon you will have black high gloss around your ventilation outlets near the doors so the carbon is one element too much in the interior for my taste. Youll have to take care of it though, think about how you clean it so it doesnt scratch.

The gloss is just too much a dust collector IMHO, carbon for me

Hey OP, thanks so much for starting this thread. I had spec'ed my order with the black high-gloss trim, but after reading everyone's comments here about how hard it is to keep clean and how prone to scratches it is, I did more searching on the forums, and there are lots of threads about how hard it is to maintain.

Given that... I just called up my SA and am changing my trim back to the carbon fiber!

I picked it. Just for variety. Key to maintaining it, just leave it alone. Car went into production this week.

There’s no “just maintaining” it...it collects dust like crazy and the minute you wipe it you will scratch it.

OP: I really did think about this. I looked at the samples back and forth in the dealer and slept on the decision. On paper, it would be different, simple, and "clean." In practice, I don't think it fits the car as well and well just be a PITA to maintain. I'd go CF if I were you.

Plus the high gloss trim produces glare at times, so cf all the way!

Gloss black interior looks good as long as you never touch the panels...……….ever.

I spec'd gloss black but somehow it dropped off my order so now I have carbon. I'm waiting to see what the carbon looks like in person before I buy gloss black and switch it out. If the carbon was wet carbon like on the m3 I would definitely keep it though, but I don't like the open weave.

I've wiped them, but if you go at them, you'll scratch them. The car already has gloss trim so it just adds more. It is a bit risky, but wtf. I'll be very curious about how the door panel trim survives.

Fyi - some folks brought to my attention that the high gloss black may cause unwanted glare when driving...I was leaning towards high gloss black too before I heard that

Glare? Really? They must be extremely shiny then... I wonder how much they cost from BMW, if it's cheap enough might as well buy some just to see what it looks like.

It would be easier to apply some walnut contact on the smoother finish though.
