Run Flat Tyre Warranty?
Quick question, my F30 is in the tyre shop at the moment, TPS kept going off on the rear left hand tyre, was losing about 6-7 psi a day and had to keep topping up for about 3-4 days..
Question is the guy said straight up, cant be repaired, needs to be replaced, is that correct? my understanding was that if it was a side wall puncture, yes it had to be replaced, but any where else it would be repairable? Second question is, are they covered by warranty? i.e. they haven't been able to locate a puncture, but its definitely losing pressure. Car has only done 3,000k .. Views? Cheers Matt

Meaning they said there is no psychical puncture in the tyre. They still have the car so I am not sure where they are at.

Well if you're like me who didnt op for the wheel and rim insurance then ... you'll need to fork out the dollar. My suggestion is bring it back to your dealer if they can pin point the issue. If it was me, i'd be happy to fork out money for a legit puncture .. any other thing that may cause leakage i'd question

Ok, so was a small nail hidden in the base of the tire. Which is fine... problem now is, first of all, not one tyre place has heard of my tyre type and size in RF, not Ian Diffens, Not Beaurepairs and not Bridgestone. Bridgestone even called the state sales manager for Continental and they informed him and me (as I was there) that there are none of those tyres in Australia and from what he can see none are on order. They also advised me that Conti said they can not be repaired, whereas BMW has said they can and BMW tyre company they use in Perth said they can be.
I am waiting for confirmation.. but really... I have emailed the service manager of Auto Classic asking him what the go is. Does anyone else have the optioned 18" on Sportline. Tyre is Continental Contact Sport5 RFT 225/45/18R/91Y Run Flat. I have had a Non Runflat of the same type and tread put on for now, until I work out what the go is. If it they are 100% non repairable and I cant get the Tyre in Australia, then what is the point of having RFT on the car at all. Has anyone ditched RFT all together?

They should be able to fix a puncture of the kind you described. I thought RFT are basically the same as normal tyre except with stiffer sidewalls?
Before i pulled the trigger on the 328i i researched how to deal with punctures to ensure i was comfortable fixing RFTs if i was in a remote area. I will definitely buy this type of repair kit. This guy incidentally was repairing a tyre on a bimmer. This looks relatively straight forward and no different to what a tyre outlet would do.

This is my tyre and the puncture. Definitely something that should be repairable.. otherwise a HUGE was of money to have RFT.
the lowest PSI I drove it with was about 26psi and even that was only for a few kms.

I had to change a still very usable tyre with a big puncture (nail/screw) a couple of years after I took delivery of my E90. Thankfully the only one in over 7 years of RFT driving. My current 19" Bridgestones are fantastic. Fairly quiet and very smooth combined with F30 suspension of course. Yes, RFTs can be a pain but they can be a saviour as well. Individual choice as to what to do on this subject.

My concerns are how it would stand up to sustained high speed (up to legal limit of course) country driving, spirited driving & cornering and most of all, how your insurance company would react in the case of a collision if they discovered a repaired rft, even if the circumstances surrounding the collision was not in any way caused by the repair. (Such as rear ended etc.) I will check the info on my tyre.
