Digital rev counter stops working above 3rd gear
Hi everyone,
The rev counter (on a digital instrument cluster) stops showing correct values once I reach 4th gear. Until then it shows proper RPMs and gear shifts, but then it's stuck at around 1000-1500 RPM and barely moves. Otherwise no issues whatsoever, drives perfectly, also the alternative "power meter" display works fine. Is this a software issue? This is a 2022 F40 with a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission and the 07/2022 software update. |

Just updated my car to 07/2022.558 yesterday.
Haven't noticed the rev counter problem, but I do run manual shifting 90% of the time. I will get back if I see something like yours. The new behaviour of the lane depature warning is much nicer. I had it OFF on the previous software version, because it was shaking the steeringwheel ALL the time :-) |

Thanks for your reply, but it seems it's simply an issue of me being a noob when it comes to automatic gearboxes and this many gears
Since you mentioned manual, I tried to drive it in manual for the first time and had to realize how quickly it recommends to shift into higher gears. I also drove around in automatic and closely monitored gear shifts. To me it's surprising at how low RPMs it switches up, also it's already in gear 6 while cruising at a mere 60 km/h. This leads to very low RPMs at anything above gear 3 (especially in ECO mode, which makes sense). Also it basically skips gear 5, which leads to the rev counter jumping around a bit and leaves the impression, that the RPM barely changes above gear 3, which -it seems- is actually true. I'll keep monitoring and also look into the literature a bit, maybe I can find some gear shift profiles or charts Btw. what changed in the lane departure warning? I didn't notice any difference between the March and July updates, and I'm actually using the 'early warning' mode.. |
