Loving that it gets dark earlier - Adaptive Lights are the Dogs Danglies

Over the last week or so have had quite a few late evening drives, both work related and social.

These drives have been on different road types, M6 Toll, A5, M6, M40, A470 and a multitude of B roads.

I always have auto lights selected and as soon as dark ish, press the magic button on the left hand stalk, this starting the magic.

Even over a year in to owning the car and after loads of winter driving, I still find the Adaptive Lights Stunning.

The ease with which they react to other traffic, create those boxes around the car in front, lights on a mix of high beam and normal at the same time.

How people can fail to order these is crazy, probably one of the best options on the car and miles ahead of any other manufacturer.

Agreed!!

I was closing in on a car along a dark, unlit road at the weekend. After the lights moved to avoid the car, I eventually ended up about 10 yards behind it, with the near side light still on full beam, lighting up the verge. I think my lights were lighting more of the verge than the car in front!!

Magic!!

If I press the magic button on the right hand stalk in my car the wipers start working. Not quite so cool

I have these but never used them. I forget to press the button. To be honest I just thought it switched between high and low beam for you. Didn't realise it done a bit more than that. I like the way the headlights follow the steering direction. That's pretty neat.

Depends. You can just have HBA (High-Beam Assistant) which simply switches between high and low beam.

If you have adaptive lights then as well as HBA you get the full 'dancing' lights, car-in-a-box stuff.

But you can just have HBA on its own without the clever stuff.

Anyhow, everyone with the full magic light set up really needs to be getting out in the dark more and enjoying those dancing lights.

I've got adaptive xenons and they turn with the steering, irrespective of high/low beam. Outstanding for night driving. 'Magic button' is just HBA, or do I need to ??

Much as I love the adaptive lights, I'd still rather be able to play golf in the evening or go for a run round the woods.

They are fantastic aren't they, I drove down to Essex on Sunday night going cross country from Stevenage to Sawbridgeworth, it was great to have full beam on whilst the car managed the traffic in front and on coming.

Very clever.

Yep, definitely one of my favourite options and I smile everytime I see the box appear around another vehicle.

Also noticed while the missus was driving the car that in reverse both spot lights switch themselves on, not sure it helps but it looks cool.
