ECU/DME Removal for tune?
Anyone have a DIY for removing the ECU in order to have it shipped for tuning?
I'm getting the ESS tune done and haven't ever removed the ecu before on my car.

Is it in the same location as a regular 3 series? If so, then I assume I can use the DIY from the E9x 3 series site...

The M3 DME is in the same location as a Non M series. It is in the same box as well.
The cowel cover is a bit different, but it is easier to remove as it doesnt have any wire loom or battery cables running across it and nothing is clipped into it besides a small sensors that just twists out. It's much easier.. Let me know if you need pictures.

Thanks IND for the DIY! Very helpful.
I was wondering if you have to disconnect the battery before removing the DME? I did just to be safe, but the DIY did not mention it.
