F40 118d Interior fan broken

At the fastest it's a hammering noise. Today I had it checked at a BMW dealer/workshop. They found that the fan was broken in the plastic ring at "lower" end of the fan. Has anyone else experienced this? I think this is a part that shouldn't brake after only three years.
