Tyre wear
29000 miles out of my fronts (218i) and still got 2mm on them. Never had a car go easy on tyres like this. I'm on the factory Goodyear's - how's everyone else fairing up?

I just bought my '21 with just under 27k and the tires are new (CarMax slapped on a set).
I put over 60,000 miles in my Passat TDI (and still going) on the same tires as my 235i now has (Continental Extreme Contact+ ). But I drove that car different. It almost beckoned you to hypermile while this car just wants to play. I suspect I won't be getting tire wear like that in this car. |

Yeah I know, but the maintenance company won't replace them until they reach 1.8mm, I could've done with new ones over the last few months as it's been the wettest winter for a long time

That's not a supplier I'd ever want to deal with. Blatantly ignoring common sense and BMW's requirements. Even BMW dealers selling an AUC will replace any tyre less than 3mm.

From a BMW owner manual:
"The tread depth should not drop below 0.12 in/3 mm, although, for example, European legislationand from https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/t...f%20the%20tyre. "What is the legal tyre tread depth in the UK?https://www.acea.auto/fact/type-approval/ These vehicle regulations are set by European Union law, and in many cases refer to Regulations developed by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN-ECE) Working Party 29, under the ‘1958 Agreement’... yet how the UK's withdrawl from the EU affects regulatory standards?! I did not put enough miles on our current 228i but I can comment on wear on some other cars of the relatively recent past. I had a series of Porsche Caymans. I regularly got 28K on the fronts (ultra performance summer tires with low wear ratings). Of course, I typically could never get more than 16K-18K out of the rears........this was pretty much the case for Base, Cayman S, and a Cayman R. I had 4 wheel alignments done at least every two year AND maintained tire pressure (checks/add air) every 2 weeks.
