Proper tires size for 18x8.5 & 18x9.5?

I am expecting my Avant Garde M359 wheels to show up next week after waiting on a 2.5 month backorder. I'm about to order the tires and my searches have mostly turned up that people have managed to fit the stock sport pkg tire size but not much info on what is actually the best choice size.

Tire rack has told me that 225/40-18 and 235/40-18 will fit the 18x8.5" front wheels and 255/35-18 or 265/35-18 will fit the 18x9.5" rear wheels.

Can anyone comment on what size I should be going with? My assumption is to pick the wider tires in both cases since I am looking to increase traction (in the rear especially).

236/265 is your best bet. It will give you more rubber for grip and fill the wheel well for a better look. The rear will look great, but think about a 5mm or 10mm spacer for the front.

Thanks for the quick response. I will get these ordered. Already have a set of 10mm spacers for my stock wheels now serving winter use and I'll give them a go on the front. Looking forward to having decent traction again.
