Calibra?

Watching the Nurburgring fail video on here thinking wtf is that, they weren't built that long ago, were they?

I genuinely cannot remember the last time I saw one, the units might be years, I remember them because I really really wanted one at the time.

What cars have you noticed that have vanished?

Calibra was made 89-99, so even the newest are almost 20 years old now. I think it's more a sign of what happens when you get to around 40- the cars one coveted as a teenager are now just old!

What's worse is actually driving one of these cars from back then and realising what a heap of junk they are compared to modern cars.

One of my neighbours has an immaculate Mk 4/5 Cortina - takes me back to the days when my dad had a chain of them as company cars...

Saw a Calibra on the M1 about a month ago. My Dad had a Calibra Turbo when I was at university. Full leather, felt pretty luxurious and quick back then. But it would be 25 years ago now.

My favourite though was his old Saab 900 Turbo, not seen one of those for ages.

Friend of mine just sold his a couple of weeks ago. Despite a full restoration the reality just didn't match the memories!

I actually saw a Calibra on the road in Birmingham this week! It was an SE6 which I know as it was Icelandic Blue.

I had two Calibras after dreaming of owning one in my teens, but know when I see one I just think what an old shed! Still one of the most aerodynamic cars on the road though!

Tragically the Rover 220 Turbo Coupe used to be my dream car (excluding unobtainable exotics) when I was growing up! Neighbour had a really nice blue/green one! And I still see it around the Rawtenstall area every now and again.

They are indeed becoming an endangered species ,nit having seen many others in the flesh. Having joined the face book page it’s reassuring to see there’s still quite a few actively being restored and modded .
