Tinted Windows and Track Days
I have been looking into some track days through BMW Car Club of America. Has anyone had experience with these track days and tinted windows? Do they allow you to track with tinted windows.
Thank you, Philip |

I thought you are required to lower your windows. so it wouldn't matter i guess. don't worry.

He was denied participation at a BMW CCA PDE in Lime Rock a few weeks ago because of his tints! Bottom line, each chapter has a different rule. Here in NJ, the Chief of Tech asks to be able to see your car no latter than a week before the event to give you his decision. It is not so much the windows on the side that matter (they will ask you to open them anyway), it is more the back one. The driver in your back needs to be able to see through your car at anytime to anticipate whatever could happen in front of you.

What the heck? Why would they boot you for having tinted windows? Since your windows are rolled down on the track it doesn't even matter. What a bunch of assholes.

I live in the desert. Tinted windows aren't for posing here. They're for interior survival!

Also, the fact that cars with tints needed to be checked by the chief of techs at least one week prior to the event was clearly indicated in the registration package that was sent to all participants more than 1 month prior to the event... As a result, I do not really understand why one would be qualifying them of as#$@%#^$^?!?

I did extensive research in multiple forums. Overall 40% you can track no problems. 30% almost all events will be fine with it. 20% almost all will say its too dark but may allow to run just for one time. 15% too dark.

Nope. Its is so you can be extracted by safety personal from the car in case of a crash. This rule has been around for years in SCCA showroom stock racing.A dark tint is a safety hazard on a dark rainy day as your visabilty is very poor in the mirrors.
