Just saw it as well. While it may still have some awkward angles even in person, at the end of the day, it's still a BMW. The feel, looks (overall) and interior - you know you're in a BMW. Refrain from throwing options at a 2er Gran Coupe, makes it a good car for those getting their first BMW.

People are still going to hate though, to each their own.

My passion towards bmw journey ends at f series. It's going too futuristic for me, might work for most markets but just not for me. The world is heading to the future so I guess I want the old school style at least in terms of driving and wrenching your own car. I am excited for the cayman 4.0

Maybe someone else can explain it... to me, it just dilutes the brand, confuses the consumer, and increases productions costs... for how much market share? Puzzling to me...
I turned off the video when he said its like the M2. Not even close..

Indeed. Here in the UK many reviews also shows the B48 M135i sounds much better after a few thousand miles.

One review actually has a new and 1500 mile car and there were better pops and burbles from the slightly run in car which bodes well.

Just saw one at the dealer today and sat inside it as well. I have to say, it doesn't look good in person either, very stubby, very cheap and the proportions are all wrong. Inside wasn't too terrible, a little cramped and the car in general isn't wide - the center console armrest is pretty much for one person - and materials were generally just okay. Less hard plastic than I thought there'd be, and a lot of squishy rubberized plastic on the dash, door panels and tops, as well as the seats since this one had leatherette. All in $40k with only the premium package added, and honestly, I think a GTI/R or even a Mazda3 interior could be on par or better depending on personal preferences.

This is likely what everyone will be getting for loaners now!

Jusy when you think new BMWs can't get any fuglier than the 7/8 series, x4/6/7, they release this. Bravo?

What is BMW's design department smoking these days?
