It is a 2 litre 306hp 4 cylinder engine (B48) used in all the FWD biased cars. The 40 is for the B58 6 cylinder cars.

They needed a car in this segment. They should have come out with it YEARS ago, and brought the 1-Series sedan over here. But whatever, we finally have something comparable, and that's a good thing. If you don't like FWD-based cars, congrats - I'm going to let you in on a secret people seem to forget on this site daily. Ready? Here it is: THE EXISTENCE OF THIS CAR IS NOT STOPPING YOU FROM CONTINUING TO GET THE BIGGER, MORE EXPENSIVE, REAR DRIVE BASED BMW's. You were never the target audience for the 2GC, CLA, A-class, A3, etc. It's at least as good looking as those cars, if not better, and will drive fine for what it is. We have chastised BMW for years for all the micro niches they've tried filling, but that's not the case here. This is a big market. It needed filling. It is absolutely ridiculous to expect BMW to miss out on their cut of 6000 sales per month, especially since almost every one of them would come at the expense of their two primary competitors in Audi and Mercedes. Every single 2GC they sell is an A3 or CLA/A-class that DIDN'T sell. So get down off your moral high horses. |

Not for the 2 series Gran Coupe. It will simply not fit.

My first thought is where's the shadow line trim? Why is the trim around the windows brightwork instead of black?
The aqua-blue paint is doing nothing for this car. They should have shown it in a more-aggressive color. This thing has crazy overhangs. I understand the front overhang is needed to accommodate the engine pointing the wrong direction, but what's the excuse for the rear overhang? Visual and weight balance?

It's like everything that's coming out of BMW is just not making me as excited as I used to be. I used to own a M235i and the excitement was so so high and then there's this.

Honestly...that looks absolutely depressing. The fact that it is FWD makes me want to throw up on my own eyes

If reports are the be believed, we still have these things coming up in the "drift machine" albeit with just 2 doors. If you really want / need 4 doors with RWD, gt a 340. |

Looks like the current Toyota Corolla sedan. Should have made it look like the Corolla hatch at least. So it's a Corolla with available AWD and slightly more power.

Wow, bmw is on a roll! They're consistently making the ugliest cars in each category!
Since they nailed ugly, they're now focusing on boring! Just like the 1er, there's no reason whatsoever to pick this up over the competition... Sad times, bmw! |

thing is, BMW already have that. It's called MINI. I guess BMW has MINI brand and share this platform, so why not doing this car. It cost nothing to them. |
