Are the dealers you are talking to ///M dealers?

If so, go find one that isn't! The M dealers are targeted on their M car sales for said status etc. and have to achieve certain figures on them.

Non M dealers are more likely to push the car through at a lower margin as it just counts as another sale for them!

Food for thought.....

Haha, I've had all that. I went into my local dealership a few years ago asking about a F30 330d when it just came out. Showed a Coast2Coast quote and he just laughed and said these deals just dont exist.
Usual sales bollox so put you off the deal and make you buy from them. Just walk away and look elsewhere.

I think us TRL orders have been lucky as 17%+ discount as been handed on a plate to us (no haggling needed from TRL!), first come first served and all that. Jammy sods being right place at the right time I suppose.

But as above, there are other deals to be had elsewhere!!!!

I actually had Cotswold BMW trying very hard to match TRLs offer but the best they could come up with was £25 a month more on the monthlies then TRLs deal with same deposit.

If you want to show your dealer this is the original TRL deal. And those people have got that deal.

I was once escorted from a vw dealership when I told them they were talking s*it when they gave me a px price!! I was going to buy a brand new r32!! So went to another dealer and got more for the px and a cheaper car.

I would just phone every dealer in the country with your price and say match it and say if they will do it you will give them the deposit there and then.

My mate did it with Porsche, had two dealers fighting over the business and we're doing discounts so he would buy from them. Porsche do not like discounts but you can get them

I got +£20k off my new turbo s. Right place right time. My BM dealer knew I wanted the comp pack M3 as I would phone him every month since Sept last year asking when the cp is coming out and finally when it did and he had already got a build slot for March it was always going to be my car.... So I wasn't really in a position to beat him up too much on price... I'm happy I've got the car and no regrets. Just hope I keep it longer than the M5 and M135!!

I'm currently in the process of trying to get a deal on a new M4, been to two dealers now one offered 12.5% 65.4k down to 55.5k and the second offered me 11.1% which had different options but I got 68k down to 63.4k.

Am I right in thinking there's room for improvement here?

I had over 15% off an M4 Convertible that's 11K so you can squeeze them a bit more,

They are saying on m3cutters that the 17% deals have been stopped as BMW have banned dealers giving such high discounts.
How true this is or how they know this - I've no idea.

Yes I was reading this. I think one way they could get round this is that they could give a person a particularly good part X deal if they really wanted to push a sale through.

I got 12% ish and about 1.5% of goodies and I think a very fair part X deal so am pretty happy with my purchase. I could have possibly saved a further 500-1000, but I preferred to deal with a local dealer.

Are these percentages on the total cost of the car including options or on the pre vat list price and are they all on finance deals rather than cash?

My percentage was on the total cost of the car.

Just thought I'd update you all and mention I got to 15% which I'm really happy with. Thank you for the advice and to the friendly helpful people that messaged me, really great forum and looking forward to posting pics and contributing.

Hmm so I made a £1000 deposit to the dealership over the phone and haven't as yet signed anything (this is to happen tomorrow) when later today I get a phone call from another local dealership who offered me the service pack for free (£1100) and another £20 off my monthly payments.

Am I too late to change dealerships and get my deposit back considering I haven't signed anything nor have they said it was non-refundable or binding to me?

Tell them the truth that you got a better deal elsewhere and you want your money back. I doubt they'll want to lose the sale so hopefully they will match it so you won't need to go through the hassle of trying to get your deposit back.
