Is this safe?

The guy in the video used a screwdriver to force the valve open. Will this break the pin?

Jeez no, you only have to unplug it when the flap is open.

But my valve doesn't open… it only opens when I drive and at kick down. My friend and I verified bc he drove behind me… and it won't open when I'm parked. If I unplug it when it's closed, will it open when I drive or will it stay closed.

Yes I think it should do with your engine you just need to get the engine into it's correct parameters.
The trick is to catch it on a cold start. For the first few seconds the valve should be wide open for catalyst warm up. During that time you can jump under and unplug the valve while it's open.

So many people have said that, but I've even set up my phone recording on a cold start and it stays closed. So you think if I unplug the pin while it is closed. And if I drive it will open and stay open.

I avoid Instagram like it had the plague thank you. As I have seen videos of the valve opening I don't need to see yours as it seems you must be doing it wrong somehow.
As stated, we'll beg to differ and leave it at that.

It still is wrong to brutalise it with a screwdriver thus I have answered the op correctly..

I do not plan to use the screwdriver…. But you can let me know if this is wrong. Starting my car after it being in a garage over night and setting up my phone in-front of the exhaust with the light, then starting it up. And the exhaust valve not opening.

This has worked in the past with all BMW models. Have you tried sport mode?

Yes I cold started the car by putting it in sport first. I know my valve open as I drive bc my friend has drove behind me. But it does not open when I am parked.

What do you think would be achieved with the valve permanently open anyway? Can you hear a difference when it is open, if you can then surely just unplug it then.

I noticed on my wife's 228ix that you can go in idrivw to adjust the exhaust volume. Is it possible that it will be open if you select "loud"?

Ok… and I'm not sure some say the fake ending noise that comes through the speakers is not correlated with the valve it's self. We'll some say it is. Just i think that is you put it to loud in comfort it'll just make the Cabin louder but not actually effect the valve. It in sport it will open on kick down no matter what the Fake noise is set as.
