He's a troll through and through. Because his Hellcat buyout is $40k or something like, he measures every new vehicle price and hp against it. So dumb.

Ironically this Z car may be the only other new car available on a chassis as old as the one the Hellcat is built on.

It's an absolute steal for 400hp & a 6MT. Even spec'd up with the nicer leather interior (with very bold color options) & the sport package it'll be ~$10K cheaper than the Supra. It's basically a 370z with a body kit, upgraded interior, and the Red Sport motor... they are not hiding how they are keeping the price down.
If I didn't need a rear seat for emergencies, I would be all over it. Instead I plan to go for the Supra with rear seats, aka the G42 M240i. |

I just hope it drives well in terms of steering and MT. New BRZ / 86 still would need many mods to bring them to what the Z is stock in terms of looks and performance. |

I want cars like this to continue to be produced so I hope it does a lot better than the 370Z but I still think the car looks dated inside and out and will probably not be a car that ages very well (easy to say I suppose considering it's already 20 years old under the skin). It's going to boil down to how much you liked the 370Z as they didn't make any significant suspension changes so the engine is really the only thing that's going to differentiate the experience. I just didn't think driving the 370Z was a great experience but part of that was due to the lack of refinement of the VQ37 so maybe the new engine can cover a lot of the old flaws.

Although, according to early dynos, it seems as though Subaru underrated the new engine. It's rated at 228hp, but many seem to be in the 212-220whp range. And with peak tq coming in at 3600 vs 6000 like the 1st gen it has a much wider powerband. A catless header + solid E85 tune could bring the car up into the ~245whp range, which is pretty good for a 2800 lb car. And the cars are pretty easy to get weight out of with sacrificing creature comforts. Just an AP Sprint front BBK, lightweight battery, and rear seat delete are good for 70-80 lbs in weight reduction. |

If those are your metrics, you WILL most likely be disappointed, ask me how I know, if it does end up being a simple re-dressed 370Z with a new motor.
