You don't need to show the teaching bits though. It just protracts the segment of the show so they don't need to fill it with an extra 5-10 min piece.

Personally, I'd like them to do away with the celebrity plugs completely and have another short film or something.

Other than that really, I think they are getting much closer to having a good show. It is starting to feel different enough to the old show, whilst still following a familiar format.

Rory Reid still doesn't do it for me either...

Ah, well I meant like before. The Stig used to be a real person for the teaching, all off camera.

Anyone watched extra gear? How annoying is that presenter? Obviously trying to lure in a younger demographic. He's cringe.

I'm loving this new top gear. I even prefer it to the more recent clarkson episodes.
Really like the fact they have taken it back to being a proper car show with the odd bit of silliness rather than the whole show being 3 blokes messing about.

Celebrity bit drives me mad though. It always did before. I don't mind listening to their car history but have no instest in the timed laps

The program is so bad it defies description. Back in the old days it was obviously scripted and rehearsed a thousand times but the presenters did manage to make it appear spontaneous and ad-libbed. That thing with LeBlanc in the Aston looking in his mirror as the Merc approached with his mock surprise made me want to stick pins in my eyes and he's supposed to be a sodding actor!

I'd never seen that Rory bloke before and nor would I want to again (who is he, anyway?)

CH I've always liked for his driving prowess and knowledge but he can't slot into the 'humorous' presenter role.

Photography is great for the most part but the presentation is terrible.

Frankly, I thought the new GT was poor, some decent segments but on the whole I think GT's efforts to mock the old TG format backfired.

After 2 episodes, TG was far more watchable and enjoyable than GT..IMHO of course!
I tend to agree. I think there is some definite potential for the new tg team to grow. I think it will go from strength to strength.

It certainly seemed to stick out more than usual that he wasn't doing the drifting
