Car gets first dent... >:-(

Got my first dent a few days ago. I was pulling into a parking space and once I put the car in park it rolled forward slightly. The problem was it rolled into the parking column which would have been no problem, execpt there was screw sticking out... put a nice little dent in the car right above the headlight washer.

About the size of my fingertip so not noticeable but I was so mad I couldn't shop. Obviously it's stupid to get it fixed because they'll just replace the bumper and it will be about a grand to do so.

Everyone keeps telling me that it's not noticeable and I know it isn't, but I know it's there...

Sorry to hear.
The first one is the hardest... it only gets easier from here on...

I should know.
I did the same putting a screw-head dent into my rear bumper when, having forgotten that he had parked behind me in the driveway, I backed up into my father-in-law's car's front licence plate.

Lucky for my butt that my legs were too short to kick myself!

How close did you park to it initially? The roll couldn't have been more than a few inches!

Should have gotten a stick.

Should have used the parking brake before releasing the foot brake.

Tracy: sorry to hear about damage to Hans, I posted pics of Ralf's injury over at the DC Chat thread.

my bumper scrape happened on 06.06.06 ... I blame it on cosmic influence, oh and my wife

Initial estimates about $550 for full repaint/surfacing. I decided on wagonwork, they came highly recommended by BMWCCA and BMW Arlington and I think they're the most expensive. Needed an appointment just for them to look at the darn thing and for them to make me another appointment to bring it in...

Stinks. You might be able to get paintless dent removal. I had that done before for between $75-$100 and it takes less than half an hour.

You mean they can do their little magic trick on a plastic bumper?

I don't think that PDR could remove a puncture from a screw. And its plastic. You might be able to find a place that would heat the area up and smooth the plastic where it is not that noticable.

I got a tiny little dent in my rear bumper from dropping a can onto it!

Tried to heat it up with a hairdryer but it did no good... actually the dent came out a little by itself over the time, so now it's hardly noticeable. I decided to live with it...
