ESVt-1 Z4M at PCA DE Roebling Road 6/9/12
Some of the more open laps of the day in the PCA white group at Roebling. Trying out a new camera angle, works well can even see my speed on my AIM solo. [u2b] [/u2b]

Looks like a fun track.
OT, but is that how we're supposed to use the thumb buttons on the steering wheel? For my car, I've always wrapped my thumbs around the corner I think the only times I use thumb buttons are for go-karts hah. |

It lets me get a better feel for what the car is doing through the wheel feedback that i lose if i'm putting a death grip on the wheel. Just my way of keeping things loose.

GMD - great laps, what lap times were you turning this go around ? I can see a few areas from the video where you can likely pick up significant time, unfortunately most of the data I have from my Z4M is in Traqmate and not the AIM Solo I recently switched to. I believe I'm back up there in August with Flat out and again in October with the PCA Citrus club who I instruct with, would love to ride shotgunf or a few laps.
Typically you don't want to wrap your thumbs around the steering wheel at a track. In the even of contact of a severe loss of control it can break your thumbs when the steering wheel spins rapidly (This is also in essence why if you watch indy car the second they go into a spin they take their hands completely off the wheel).

Thanks I was running 1:27 consistently my best lap was 1:25, yeah I know I'm leaving a ton of time on the table in 1 and 3 and 9 , but I had a bad spin happened in 3 so I'm still overly careful there (100 mph sideways is not fun). I am coasting into 1 too much as well need to stay on the gas longer, but at 140 plus it's been messing up my turn in to 1 when i brake later. Just need more repetitions only been doing this for a year.

They definetly keep the car planted and flat way better than stock, i was seeing peak lateral G in the 1.1 range on street tires although very sticky street tire (Re-11's). I am still utilizing them on 6/10 rebound and compression up front and 5/10 in the rear. I have been dialing in proper camber set up and won't make any changes in suspension settings until I'm maximizing my current setup, i.e within .1 seconds of my fastest lap every time. I think the KW 3 are a fantastic value for what you get.

Trick to 3 is to turn in much earlier and hug the inside of the turn there. The pavement is shaped like a /\ from when they paved it, you can load the car up on the inside and get to full throttle for a second going into your brake/downshift. If you spun there it's likely from being a bit too wide and getting the off camber side where there is a ton of marbles. More grip on the inside will also let you get to throttle from 2-3 more, but still will want a lift to settle the car. Another trick to Roebling for the wallet, make sure you're swapping your tires right to left at the end of each day.

On warmer days do you find they make the whoosh sound of the shocks compressing? Have read great things about the RE-11's but I already picked up Michelin super sports which grip nicely. Will try the RE's next time though. |

The PSS are good in fact I like their feel on turn in, better than the RE-11's but they don't have the absolute grip nor the heat tolerance of the RE-11's thats why I switched. |

Flat out is a great group, a few of my friends started it after not getting enough track time with other groups. This is there second event at Roebling and the first went without a hitch. I'd sign up in Intermediate. Advanced last time was cars running 1:16-1:21 and dominated by GTRs, GT3s, etc.
Looking at some old data from a 1:22 Lap I had on my work computer, I'm entering 9 at 95mph and end up at 138 braking into 1. By the mid-point between 1 and 2 I'm at 68mph. Turn 3 I was able to carry 94mph through the turn. I love tracking the Z4M but was at a slippery slope. No one that I ran with at the time used them so I was in a world of my own trying to get data, etc. Many of my friends run GT3 and GT3RS so it was either spend 10-15k on a supercharger, cage, seats and harnesses, or sell the car and get a GT3. Safety was also a huge concern since we run tracks like Sebring and Daytona as well, and the GT3 offered a bolt-in cage vs having to cut half the car appart like the Z4M. I still miss the car quite a bit!

From memory I had -4.0 in the front with 0 toe (which I also used on the street and got decent tire wear), rear I believe was -2 camber, can't find my notes to know 100%.
