09 E92 Grill Install Different than 08-?

Hey Guys,
I got a set of black grills for my E92 a while back (christmas..). I tried to put them in following the below instructions, but they don't seem to unclip like the pictures show. Granted, I can barely fit my fingers in there, so that could be part of the problem. I'm just wondering if anything is different about the install on an 09? When I was at the dealer, they said I would have to unscrew the whole front bumper to do it!!!

Thanks

Yeah should be exactly the same for the Coupe, but the instructions you got are obviously for a Sedan. Also to note, the LCI Sedans have completely different kidney grills up front too. Maybe you should look for some instructions for your car instead of the sedan kidney grill install, they are quite different

simple..unscrew the top torx screws and you should have plenty of room to depress the clips even if you have larger hands

Yep, on the e92/e93, you need to unscrew the top two bumper bolts to get to the clips.

Smile 335i Coupe grill install

I just installed aftermarket grills to my 2009 335i Coupe. I found that if you remove the 4 Torx screws at the top of the bumper (under the hood) you can easily bend the flexible bumper about 2-3 inches forward without apparent damage to it, enough to get your arm to where the latches are releasable. A good look at the new grills shows where to press the tabs on the ones you're removing. The whole job took about 20 minutes with my inexperienced hands. The original grills came out without damage. I discovered that if you're right-handed you should take out the left grill first and then you can reach across the center to get the tabs on the right grill more easily. I don't know if this procedure is unique to the 2009 Coupe or not but I hope it helps.
