For those of us in the Raleigh area, the local group from Tarheel Chapter BMW CCA went to VIR (Virginia International Raceway) this past weekend. We were able to get 20 minutes of "Parade Laps" on the track and watch the club racing events. VIR is just over the VA state line, about a 90 minute drive from Raleigh. 2 more trips are planned for this coming November and December when we'll do "Charity Laps" (paid laps with the proceeds going to worthy charity).

I'm in the Wendell area (east of Raleigh) - there is a shop called "Superior Performance Auto" here in town. They have a BMW-trained tech on their staff and they've treated me very well. Their website is
https://www.superiorperformanceauto.com/ There's also the Bimmer Performance Center in north Raleigh at: https://www.bimmerperformancecenter.com/ They have an excellent reputation and are supporters of BMW CCA.

They check for a "Ready" status via OBDII port, and I've had a tune in my M3 for the past 4 years with no issues.

Wake County (Raleigh area) definitely includes the OBDII check, but no tailpipe "sniffing". I've had my secondary cats removed (AA midpipe) for the past 4 years with no issues. Previously had inspections done in both Brunswick and New Hanover counties and OBDII "ready" check was part of the State Inspection criteria.

I have a laundry list of things done to the current F80, problem is I don't have any original parts to put back on it when I go to sell it. |

I recently purchased a 2022 X3 for my wife at Leith - Ales Olecky was our salesguy and we got a great price and buying experience.

Southpoint has been pretty good to me. I've purchased 3 different M4's from them. Mike Bokar is my go to. Solid salesman and has quickly become a friend. Felix Balines is my go to service/performance guy in the back. Good group of guys that have been there a while and aren't transient nomads.
Anyone near the Ft. Bragg/Stedman area? Not too many German cars or bimmers for that matter around me. Just Bubba trucks and Jeeps. (Squatted pick up truck GANG at the high school) |

Three kids on my son's HS football team got their squat pick-ups impounded... a week after mom & dad paid to get the trucks out of the impound lot they were back at it. Not sure if they were given a certain amount of time to get the trucks fixed but they're still running around with them "squatted".
Not sure what the point of having the truck sit like that is... just seems plain dangerous, and they're obnoxiously loud. But then again, I'm old and don't get certain trends and fads. (Stance nation?? Still don't get it) |
