I put another 150 miles on the car today and I'm liking it more and more

This car is so much fun and so eager to quickly change direction. Loving that about the car. Very nimble in feel for a car that isn't a super light weight

Yes, I'm still on a dealer list right now. The only deposit I actually have right now is still for the M2. I am considering others options as well, but the M2 is still a strong possibility.

In fact, the top dogs for me go: M2, 718 S, TTRS. Possibly in that order.

And yeah, there is that price gap between the M2 and 718S, but if I went M2, I would definitely do some mods.

The 718S is going to be a great performer, but the value of the M2 can't be denied. I'm not going to lie though, I had a Cayman before, and now I am a fan for life. I love that car!

The M engineer told me the car won't have the overboost until your break in service is done.

He also told me not to worry too much about blipping over the recommended break in rpm once in awhile as long as it's not sustained. I believe his words to me were, "An engine which cannot handle this is not an engine"

Actually, it does make sense they might withhold over boost until after break in. Unlike the M3/4 rumours, this one might just be accurate

This is a great shot of your car, the flares look amazing.

I'm still think F80CP at the moment, but I did go test drive a 991.2 Carrera on Friday and enjoyed it. Not quite sure I can stomach the price, but I'm looking forward to see what the tuners do with the 3L turbo

I think the F80CP is a great choice... my thoughts were relative to my non-CP car and I'm an certain that would again change things up. Either may, M2/3/4 and you make a good choice.

I lusted after a 991.2 Carrera GTS and was SO close to buying it. However, as good as it was, it wasn't twice the car my M4 was but it was almost twice the price Has it been 20% more than my M4, I would have bought it but 65% more was just too much to justify.

Hi sorry if this had already been asked...but looks like the lower central trim is silver, I thought this was the same open weave CF as the interior trim?

It is if you buy that piece with the steering wheel... it was an extra $500 or $600 and I didn't want it as it would be solely aesthetic.

Great stuff! Thanks for taking the time to say it all. Can't decide whether that makes it easier or harder on those of us still waiting

The pics I had seen of the MPerformance steering wheel up to now showed CF inserts. Can you spec that wheel with or without them, do you know?

Yes... with or without. I opted for without because I didn't want to spend the extra $$ as all I really wanted was the thicker grip.

If I were to go 991, I haven't quite decided if I'd go for a .1 or a .2. The .1 is the more traditional NA engine, that will prob hold its value better in the future. The .2 is turbo and faster, although pretty linear. Didn't get anything like the M3/4 experience when you floor it, which I kind of due since I already have 2 NA engines.

First world problems I know

Yea, those are still holding their values rather well. I just don't think I can justify the big price difference between a C2S and a GTS when I think I'd get most of the experience from the C2S.

I was really surprised how much C2S depreciate after just 2 or 3 years. Definitely puts it around the similar price range as the F80 when looking at the monthly payments.

Depends what you are looking for of course.

In my experience in 991s cars and the f80, the 991 is a far better performance car. Suspension, engine, handling, brakes. It's also 450 lbs lighter which is a huge difference.

To me, the 991 is the best sports car I've ever driven and the benchmark.

For anything other than a pure dd, the f80 is not competitive whatsoever with a 991 in my experience

And therein lies the problem. I've considered everything from the F80, the 991.1, 991.2, Boxster Spyder, Dodge Viper, M2.....

Essentially all that falls into what I can afford is considered haha. At the moment, a lightly used 991.1 C2S seems like a good buy. Ask me again in 2 days what I've changed my mind to

Very good review, as someone with an M4 considering an M2 this is very useful.

Would be great if you could have driven the competition package F8x to compare it to the M2 since that seems to improve lots of things to the M3/4

Personally, I still can't get over the rear of the M2, I'm hoping there will be some aggressive spoiler to help in that department, but my main gripe is in terms of color options, I refuse to do another white, MG looks way too bland with that interior and I do not like the green shade in LBB so that leaves me with black, which is really hard to keep clean. I could get the car wrapped for $3k but that's almost wheel money. And speaking of money, the main attraction to the M2 for me is the price tag BUT the lease rates on these cars are horrendous, I'm starting to doubt I will see decent rates by the time my lease is up (June 17')

If all turns out for the better I will probably look into a black car and maybe get Ceramic Pro or cQuartz in order to help keep the black clean then I'll probably drop money on wheels, m performance coilovers and cosmetics and hopefully that will turn the M2 into quite the looker

Have you seen LBB in person?

I've seen it a few times now and have not once noticed any sort of green hue. If anything, it's much closer to MINI's electric blue than any other color.

Great write up.. Very informative. I am picking my car up on Saturday and I can't wait. I sold my 08 135i two years ago and have been waiting ever since. I to felt the M4 was to big of a car for me and your write up solidifies my thoughts. I have purchased the BMW Performance CF spoiler and Side Grilles along with the Pedalhaus aluminum pedal set, and the JRC exhaust valve delete kit. I already told my wife to make other plans for the weekend as I will be driving my car as much as possible to get to that 1200 mile mark. One area that you did not mention was the Active Sound. I can't imagine that you like that artificial sound. I am planning on ordering the Active Sound Delete Kit. Any thoughts? Anyway keep enjoying the car I know that I will.
