My new winter wheels

Finally got pissed off with the BM, it was the final straw for me when i couldnt get it moved for 10 days after the snow and ice had set in.

I have decided to trade up to a Brand new Range Rover sport TDV6 HSE
Few options -
Black
Black leather with contrast stitching
Piano black wood
Harmon Kardon Hifi
20" Alloys
Ipod link
Privacy glass

Anyway pretty much fully loaded as the HSE gets all the toys like satnav, bluetooth etc.

I found the car two weeks ago it was already ordered to that spec and was built last week i collect it on Saturday...

Similar to the one below...

If its anything like my X5 on 20s it will have reasonable traction to get going, stopping and cornering is a disaster due to the huge tyres and the weight of the vehicle.

Looks great though, hope you enjoy it.

Had one of these last winter for a couple of days, albeit the old model... Was actually amazed at what it could do in the snow and ice!

I think you will need winter tyres for those 20inch rims

Stopping that beast will need nothing but the best rubber.

Nice one mate...but I know life didn't get any easier with mine in the snow and ice. The 22's were an absolute nightmare...

Thanks for all the comments, i have not bought the car to conquer the antarctic i am merely looking to get moving!!! Obviously i am looking for the all-round versatility that the Range Rover offers and for me it is a natural progression moving from the e92 which i loved all except for winter months.

Yep, I can confirm that all 4 wheels were turning on my father in laws X5 with Carlos fandango's on as it gently slide sideways into the flower beds on his drive.

He had moved about 2 feet forwards though as well as 2 feet sideways.

Very good this 4wd.

A range rover is a different beast than an x5 that's for sure... Test drove both in the snow and can confirm this!

Thanks for the comments anyway!

Nice looking car, not exactly the good handling quick car an e92 335d is but its in a completely different category of car/van/bus/pimp wagon.

Hope you enjoy it, its got that imposing look you might be after.

Your e92 would have been quite good if you had winter tyres on, if winter performance was the ONLY reason you moved to the RRS then I'd say its a mistake. I don't think this was your only reason though.

I am sure I read in Autocar recently that some report showed that accidents in 4x4s have been higher than in 2wd because drivers are overconfident in the ability of the car and, as people have pointed out on here, traction gets them going, but they are harder to stop and more likely to roll when they hit something.

To be fair i have always fancied one, but was not in the position to buy a new one 18months ago when i bought my Bmw, the range rover is getting on for twice the price and discounts compared to what bmw offer are shocking!!

It will be a good all round vehicle that's for sure with presence!

I have access to some quick cars should i feel the need to go for a blast so all is not lost

I can confirm this as i put the companys Navara in a ditch, while the BM was snowed in!!! Lucky no damage at all just had to get pulled out with a tractor

My mate has one, and in snow mode, nothing will defeat it!

Not a massive fan of them myself, but I appreciate why lots of people like them.

enjoy

The RRS is still a properly capable 4WD underneath all the bling, X5 is not!

RRS is great for mowing down all the peasants in their 'little cars' down country lanes too!

looks good and certainly has a presence on the road.

I'd ignore the 'Winter Tyre Gestapo',despite their abundance in numbers
