difference between led and adaptive led

just curious if anyone know besides the swiveling around corners, are there any differences between the full LEDs that come standard on the 2 GC and the adaptive ones? I remember reading the on my m240i that the non adaptive LEDs were not as bright. hoping that's not the case with this car too.

Adaptive LED: is more than swivel. It has matrix LEDs. It can throw long beam light selectively so that on coming cars or cars in front are not blinded but you are still able to see far. It is especially useful for those that drive on narrow roads at night. Apart from its aesthetic.

good to know. so that makes it sound like the non adaptive ones won't be as bright possibly?

Yes. The beam is longer. My 520d has it and my m240i only has ordinary LED. The difference in functionality is quite obvious

well that sucks! I wanted to get the adaptive ones on the m235i GC but would've had to pay $2650 for the premium package to get them and I didn't want to do that.

Yes. m240i LED light is adequate by itself but not as good as the adaptive LED light

ok cool I'm glad to hear your m240i still has the led angel eye daytime running lights!

You should, it's worth it.

That functionality is disabled in the US

in that case then all one is really getting with the adaptive lights is swiveling around corners, at least here in the US.

My friend's E-class definitely has them, so they cannot be banned in the U.S.

From a solely looks perspective, the non-adaptive standard LED lights look quite good. I had a hard time depicting the two when I saw them both yesterday.
