Wow 96k is a steal. At the dealer by me, they have the regular msrp 96k plus this little peice of paper next to it that says "adjusted value of car - $123,000". I asked what exactly was that all about, the salesperson said because of the high demand and limited quantity, it has been adjusted. HAHAHAHAHHA , what a big load of

We got one at our dealership in Kansas City last week. The sticker price was 96K. MSRP is something like 81K.

It's called a markup. Pretty common for these cars. The E39 M5 had a $10k-20k markup when first introduced, the Z8's markup went through the roof. The only way to get garanteed MSRP is to put down a deposit 2 years prior to the car's launch. You can hardly find a dealer willing to sell you an M5 at MSRP at this time.

Man, I really wish I had $96 to $100k to drop on a new M5, I'd be peeing all over myself. Really. As for the markups, it's called waiting.... a few years... it's funny to see how people act suprised when this has been happening for yearrrrrrrrrrrrssssss. It's a vicious cycle, but you wont' get the sword stuck in your ass in depreciation if you just bite your wallet, and hold out a few years.

Well its the first time I've seen it. I've never shopped for a "luxury" car before, and this is my first one. So to me, its a new thing. BTW, I was at the dealer today to pick up my floor mats and M5 was gone. Apparently, a lady walked in and bought it. Talk about $$$$$$$$$

She probably just wanted a "top of the line" 5-series, and the smart/lucky salesman just pointed her to the M5. A woman in a $100k+ 500hp RWD car, great... It better be a present for the hubby.

A lot of "ordinary" cars actually have these AMV [Adjusted Market Value] mark-ups as well; sometimes it is market/region-dependant.

I can remember at least three "new" Honda Accord models and two "new" Civic models as well as one "new" Toyota Camry model that had significant AMV's for the first few months after their introduction [I believe that the latest "new" Honda Civic model has an AVM in most markets as well].

IIRC the AVM on the ’90-’91-’92 Accord [whichever was the new model introduction year, I forget] was something like $2K.

Not a lot of “dollars” perhaps but considering that $2K was about 10-12% of the total sticker price it was significant.

You know she'll be driving it, and wrecked pictures of another M5 will be posted here pretty soon.

yeah those markup are just stupid, when I first bought my Evo my dealer had a 5K markup with a total price right under 38K, told the sale person that the markup was stupid and that I pay 1K under MSRP take it or leave it

I had the chance to drive a m5, what a machine, best car i have ever driven. Still have to say, that is cheap for a m5, that equals to about 75.000 euros plus options, base price here is 136.500e plus options...
