Many, myself and M3 Adjuster included, have been saying that a small, M2-sized sedan (getting full M treatment, RWD, and MT option) would sell like hotcakes. They just refuse to make it. Quote:
The approach is just baffling - why any company would take the most known and differentiating characteristics associated with their brand (see examples above), toss them aside, and just get in line with everyone else, seems counter-intuitive to me.

Well said. I still don't understand why the fwd vehicles aren't all just MINIs, that poor brand could use any help they could get these days.
I've been researching the possibility of just building an S54 E46 sedan or wagon recently. Sort of the sweet spot of BMW dynamics (with a little subframe reinforcement.) |

I am at a complete loss as well. And on top of it all, BMW only intends to create some milquetoast models while Mercedes doubles down and amps things up with sporty AMG models and even wagons that will slay this vehicle. |

This is a stupid car. Stupid FWD, stupid looking low hanging muffler, stupid fake exhaust tips, stupid fake rear bumper vents and stupid looking new grille. I'm sure they sell a lot to all the stupid people.

I disagree that it's a stupid car but agree there are a lot of consumers willing to part with their money for substandard product (Jeep sold 240k Wranglers in the US last year). A well run company should not discriminate when it comes to accepting money from consumers so if the company can profit from selling this particular vehicle then why wouldn't they enter a market that their industry rivals are profiting from?
