Trim Air Breathers - paint match?

I know lots of people have switched out chrome air breathers for black or carbon, but has anyone painted them to match the car color?

I was just looking at reflector replacements and replacements for the front center piece in the grill and started thinking about the breather vents.

Pop them off, rough them up and give it a shot yourself with a rattle can of your paint and a rattle can of clear coat. If they look like shit, take them to a body shop to be painted.

For me the air vents being the same color as the car looks a bit like they shouldn't be there. If you want to go for it, you can sand, paint and clear coat them with spray cans and see if it works for you.

My car is black, and i switched the chrome vent to black. Now i dont "see" the vents. It just blended into the body. Not necessarily good or bad, you just dont notice it there anymore.

That's kind of what I figured. Are you happy with it?

Mine is dark graphite metallic, so it would probably come out similar to yours. How did you do it?

My car is jet black which came with chrome vent, so i bought the black vent trim thats part of shadowline (black grille, vent, window frame). In your case then likely need to go to paint shop and have them color match and paint the vents, i saw a forum where someone paint their chrome door handles to match the body paint.

I see. I wish IND made paint matched vents and door handle inserts like the do the reflectors. Would be much easier.

Another option would be to use carbon fiber covers. You can get the actual trim (performance part from BMW) or a third party real carbon cover that sticks on top of your current vent with double sided tape.

Do you have a link to BMW branded M Performance stick on carbon fiber covers? I have never seen them listed as an M Performance product.
