Retrofitting Wireless Charging

Has anyone retrofitted the genuine wireless charging in their F44? I see everyone with G20 3 series are retrofitting from the NFC module to the wireless charging module. The only coding is for the don't forget phone. They are saying it is plug and play were the NFC will still work.

Good question. I'm also interested, as my lease F44 did not come with the charger. It's a must for wireless car play! I wonder how easily it is to install, though... and if i must take it to the dealership for them to do it.

There is most likely a retrofit for adding it later as BCM is the same in across all models. It will require reprogramming if it is possible. However it might not have the harness plug. Won't know until you take it apart.

Any progress on this? Be interested to know if it is doable, and how much work is involved?

Part arrived today from Germany.

took a gamble on how to fit it by using more brute force than I wanted to, but absolute piece of cake, took me about a couple of minutes.

Wireless charging now in place, not fussed about getting the warning coded in, won't need it.

Nice!! So you just swapped the part, and wireless charging works?

What's the part number you ordered?

Basically, once you take the removable lip off it's easy.

I just used long nosed pliers to pull on the part that the removable lip attaches to.

Did this on both sides, and the front of the existing one came off.

There were then plenty of places on what's underneath to grip with the pliers to pull it straight out.

Take the plug out the back, plug it into the new one and that's it.

I tested that it worked before pushing it fully back into place.

Someone posted a link on here for a guy in Germany selling them on eBay.

Have a good look as he has them advertised at different prices.

Has anyone added a wireless charger to their car? My car was produced without wireless charging.
I saw that is is possible to buy an OEM wireless tray (5A0E551) but I am not sure if the car that did not have this tray will have a bundle of cables to mount it?
Additionally, anyone knows if it possible retrofit of BMW DIGITAL KEY? My car was also produced without that key with information „32Z ENTFALL BMW DIGITAL KEY”. The car has an NFC handle on the driver's side.
I wonder if I add a wireless charging tray it will help with the bwm digital key or this needs to be activated on bmw connected drive servers?

I’m wondering the same thing, I have a 2022 that has the exact same note on the build sheet, I really hope this form gets a little more active, I want to be a contributing member👌

I can confirm the F40 Wireless charger totally fits in, bolt on exactly as described here.

I have also ordered mine online from a German seller.

Hey there if I may ask how much did you pay? Also do you have the NFC on your door? I have NFC on my door handle, and my car was supposed to be equipped with the digital key but it was removed due to the chip shortage. I’m thinking to buy an OEM wireless charger and was hoping I could have a friend help me code a digital key in

Does anyone know if when retrofit of the wireless charging unit on the F40 requires coding? Or is it simply plug and play.

Thanks

Post #9 suggests only the phone still in place warning would need coding?

M235 Wireless Charger Mod

I had the issue where my S21 Ultra did not properly fit and the wireless charging was unreliable in a 21` M235i. Here are some images to help understand the parts and assembly/disasembly.
