By the looks of the photos i think they are testing brake reliability? what do you guys think? I hope they are testing to improve brake fade and cooling. |

Yes
Indeed this is the full vehicle simulator where the can run the Ring in the lab. You can see the rotors glowing! The SA brochure makes some (BS) claim that the brakes are as good as ceramic. Ugh, SA marketeeting...

I do believe there is some merit to their claims however. Don't really see BMW skimping on the brakes if they aren't really up to snuff. The calipers look a decent size themselves, so the single piston must be pretty large itself.

Lets hope they are "as good as ceramic brakes" because this car aint a track car till it can do track days with out major brake fade or overheating.

They won't be unless they have some hidden technology they aren't sharing with the rest of the world. I completely agree with the latter part of you statement. One of the reason P cars cost more is their supperior brakes. I would be more than willing to pay more for P car like brakes. The red and yellow calipers really make the P cars stand out from the rest of the pack.

Mercedes? AMG doesn't count since it is a different car, not an option to accesorize with. Ahh, ok, so only noone should go aftermarket on an M3? Good solid comment you have there....

The standard brakes on a M3 shouldn't fade on the track so quickly as has been the case in the past.
