DC rapid charging speed/curve is identical now than new (in fact it charges quicker than new due to more higher power chargers that can sustain 100KW+ around).

Comparing an EV battery pack to something found in a consumer electronic device is like comparing the engine in a pull start lawnmower with the engine in a M5. Both are combustion engines, both run off petrol, so what’s the difference?
Thats good to know yours is doing well

Same experience with most laptops.....however Apple stuff seem to make batteries last for years and years and years.

7 year old ipad in the house, never puts a foot wrong on the battery front (or any other front TBH). Yet there is a cupboard full of 'old knackered laptops' from other brands.

Hopefully the EV batteries are from the same technology as Apple?

I hope not. Wife and myself always get new phones at the same time as on same contract. My Samsung always has way better battery life at the end of contract than her iPhone

That means nothing. My wife and I do the same but iPhones only. Her battery never lasts as long as mine. She probably uses her phone more but also charges it daily. I don’t.

I'll agree it's hardly scientific, but our usage and charging patterns are pretty similar, and the Samsung has consistently had a better battery life at end of contract. In fact I'm constantly surprised how shite the iPhone battery is

Not even remotely comparable without context, let alone 'scientific'.

Just for balance - 3 years ago I bought an iPhone 13 Pro Max and the missus bought a Galaxy S21 Ultra. Mine is still on 96% battery capacity, hers is on 82%. We're both average 4 hours daily screen time. I use YouTube and web browsing mostly and she use the usual girly trash apps. I don't know what the wAH differences are but I would imagine the pro Max has a bigger battery.

I agree, I was just replying to someone who said the he hoped EV batteries were made the same technology as Apple ones, and I was stating that in our household, they are consistently the worst performing ones.

To be honest, I hope (and believe) all EV batteries (and the charging circuits) are considerably better than any mobile / laptop battery tech

IIRC the Samsung has the bigger battery; but Apple get better longevity out of their batteries and the RAM is used much better; that's why they've never needed the selling point of 12GB RAM etc...

Anyways; I digress

Just seen this, how does that 335d pass an MOT with all the smoke! Obviously DPF removed. (Guess they put it back on for MOT time)

Horrendous isn't it? And it's not like the 335d doesn't make good power with its emissions gear intact.

No worries, I was just adding to the conversation.

EV charging and monitoring is way more sophisticated than mobile phones you will be pleased to know

I would be super embarrassed if mine kicked out smoke like that. There's enough diesel stigma as it is, thanks to dieselgate!

You should see the smoke Darkside Developments modded 30 and 35ds kick out. Coal rolling springs to mind.

And that's the thing with EVs. All that noise and smoke from the 335d and the Tesla is just as quick but silent

No doubts EVs are taking over fossil fueled engines, they are really great and much more simple machines and are really quiet - making dogs and their walkers on a high streets happy.
A problem that's been outlined in a journal is that EVs are currently hardly affordable, as there is a little second hand market of these comparing to fossil powered vehicles. At the same time EVs are cheaper on a long run.

On the theme of EVs being expensive (which I think they are, as all cars appear to be at the moment) a friend runs a used car dealership, and he has a 2.5 year old iX3 (premier pro spec) in at the moment on 40k miles, 70k retail when new that is now £30k on his forecourt so probably bought in for 27k.

To me that is a bit of a bargain that's an awful lot of still in warranty car for the price of a base 1 series, not that you'd want to be the person/FSC who lost £1400 a month whilst owning it mind.

But at these prices they are worth looking at.

You can pick up a second hand Model 3 with 65k miles for £17k. Not jalopy money, but not expensive.

Or lease an new MG 4 for £340 per month.

A new EV model anything against the same ICE model is more expensive, but they are definitely becoming more attainable.

I wish I had his hair, but not his car history.

For a fairly rare car (I think) 4 have sold recently on CC with another two about to go live, Manesh really doesn't have an excuse for not buying one, but he never will, I suspect the steering committee won't allow it.

I liked this black one with Tan leather even with LHD
