Find the HK system quite underwhelming in the G series cars…!
Let us know how you get on?

Good luck with it. I had HK in mine and it wasnt as good as the B&O in the Audi so you probably need B&W if you like your music....

Well, went to see both and the M5 is a really immense car but both of the cars didn’t feel very well loved….not rough but ever so slightly rough in certain places. Given it was a main dealer the prep of the cars was beyond poor….!

The search will continue….!

Ok further a update……deposit placed on a quite high spec 2018/68 San marina Blue M5. It’s got the comfort and premium spec so decent bunch of options…!

Can’t wait….!

Sounds fabulous. The F90 was the car I wanted when I got the current one, but I'm too much of a cheapskate and couldn't resist the deal!

Thanks…..tbh this is a real extravagance for me and it’s something I’ve wanted for a while now and a very close family member had a pretty life changing illness recently which kind put things into perspective, so I thought fcuk it. He’ll recover but it’s a slow, long road. When you see things like that it really does reiterate, you never know what’s round the corner….!

Can’t wait and genuinely excited….!

That might be why I am on a mission to tick as many car boxes as possible, the M5 ticked M and V8 in one.

Turned out it was not the car for me but that wasnt the cars fault, will be the best car I ever own but not the best for me. The RS ticks that box - so far....

Congrats! I can't agree more with your logic.

Farther was diagnosed with an illness 18 months ago, 48 hours later I ordered the X3M.

Life is to short sometimes.

It's arrived today - some crappy pics but I'm in love….!

Needs a good paint correction as has swirls marks and a few surface scratches…but paintwork is generally pretty decent

The sound and power is on another level…..! Wished it pop and banged more in comfort and sport as you u have to to use sport plus to get any drama. Nonetheless, still completely awesome….!

Any recommendations on Gap insurance?

Just code one of your M buttons as comfy but noisy. Works for me.

SM Blue on the other hand has been a pain in the ass. High maintenance little bitch of a colour and very soft paint.

Congrats. Which one has gone in its place, the S5 or the 540? If you still have latter be interested in your comparative views of living with it as a daily once the new car shine has worn off.

They are great cars and that is the best colour.

As a 540 owner, I'm also very interested in this.

I recently spent some time in the Cairngorms and decided to switch my map from bootmod3 stage 1 (430bhp) to mppsk (supposedly 360hp) as it was more fun to ring the b58 out on the smaller twisty roads with less power and torque. It just felt too fast for the twisty roads at 430bhp, that may be more limitations of the 540's suspension, but also how quickly the numbers on the speedo got silly. They were quite wide roads so it wasn't the size of the car that was the issue.

Car looks awesome BTW, and I'm also jealous. Even after writing the above, I still want one!

Yeah need to mess around with the m buttons. The pops and crackles are only apparent in sport plus so that with comfy suspension and steering have taken the M1 button spot, will configure m2 to full on mode although likely keep DSC on 😂

Re colour, I was debating black or blue but after seeing black it just didn’t do it for me, so went for SMB…..going to get a 2 stage polish and ceramic coating done on it and then wash it at home only….hopefully will look decent for a while after that!!

The S5 was px’d against the m5 and the 540i is being sold to my brother in law who has had his eye on it since I got it.

First impressions are I really do like the M5 and performance and sound are on another level compared to the 540i. Don’t get me wrong the 540i is quick but the m5 is brutal in comparison….! M5 is a lot firmer but it’s not harsh and I reckon it will take some getting used to, but definetly not something that will bother me, in fact the handling is hugely improved (as expected), as the 540i is comfy and compliment but does tilt round corners, but they are very different cars. Unless you drive both I don’t think you get that, I certainly didn’t until I got the m5!!

Thanks mate. Honestly the handling is night and day. The 540i is quick but not a sports car and aimed at being a fast cruiser. The m5 handles like it’s on rails..!!

I guess then the question is whether you spend more time enjoying the better handling or ruing the worse ride....

I did my regular journey last night, 128 miles, average 60 mph, never went above 80 and barely saw a corner. You can see why it wasn’t the right car for me (oh, and I had the dog with me!). They are an amazing piece of engineering but in my world just wasted....

They are a fabulous piece of engineering of that there is no doubt but the M5 wasnt for me.

After you get used to the 'performance hit' .... and the OP will........ it is just too large & cumbersome to offer any lasting driver enjoyment..... all imo of course.

Nice car though OP, enjoy it but be prepared like many other M5 owners to 'get rid' within 12 months
