I agree that the 737 has been stretched too far from its original design. The latest version looks like what would happen if you tried to fit the B58 motor in a Triumph Herald MkI.

I have traveled on many different types, and for short haul I prefer Airbus 319/320/321. For long haul I'd say A330, B747 (only if Premium Economy), and B767 are the best. The coach section of a B747 is a miserable place. Not ridden a B777 yet. The one kite I don't quite get is the A350. It looks bloody cramped in coach, it vibrates in an odd way, and it seems to be a pig to land. It always comes down rough with a bunch of bouncing.

I've also ridden the Bombardier regional jets a few times. No space for proper carry ons, but they usually run them to special terminals with a guy who wheels a cart in with your bags. Besides there are not enough people on board for it to be a big issue. You get your bag and are long gone in the time it would take you to extract yourself from the back end of a 737 or A320.

A shorthaul favourite of mine was the BAe 146 / Avro RJ100 Jumbolino.

Used by Crossair, they always seemed to have large leather seats.
Maybe I just got lucky?
(Concorde would have probably surpassed it, but I never got to ride one....)

BBC News - Alaska Airlines blowout: Passenger describes being on Flight 1282
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-68583149

Scary stuff - mind you, I used to fly between southern African countries on tiny twin props piloted by schoolboys for nearly a decade and that used to scare me sh*tless. Never had a blowout, mind you ! 🥴

Things did go downhill after the 787, the battery issues etc.
The South Carolina factory building the 787 got itself a dreadful reputation for turning out faulting aircraft. It lost track of nearly a hundred faulty parts that should not be fitted to aircraft on safety grounds. To this day, nobody knows where they went. One of the Persian Gulf Airlines told Boeing flat out it would only take 787s built in Seattle.

I thought it was interesting/telling that the CEO is leaving because he’s not standing for re-election, rather than being fired.

The entire Exec management team needs a fundamental clear out. Cut away all the rot in one go.

I’m booked to fly to Washington in September. Going out on a Boeing 777 and coming back on the Airbus A380.

So I’ve got half a chance…
