Any toilet flushing experts here?
Sorry. Not a post for reading when you are eating.
Having a funny issue with our toilets. Flush works. Human waste goes away. But toilet paper floats back. Happening in 3 toilets (upstairs and downstairs). I have tried different toilet rolls and still happens. Wondering if it’s some some of blow or further down the line. But confused why it’s only toilet paper coming back (not that I’m complaining). Have plumbing cover with British Gas, so can get them up. Just wondering if any of you guys have any ideas. Thanks in advance |

As it's affecting multiples WCs I would look at your SVs (soil pipe vents). If you have open vents, ie at the top of the stack, check they (it) aren't blocked by birds nesting materials etc. If you have AAVs (air admittance valves, or Durgo valves) internally check they are not stuck.
WCs create quite a vacuum when 6 odd litres of water are thrown down them at once. This is what helps to get rid of the 'stuff'. The vents are there to allow air in to compensate for the 'suck'. If a vent is even slightly blocked, your scenario is common. Our downstairs WC does the same, to a small degree, because the clever plumbers didn't put any vent in at all when the house was built! |

Think I will get DynoRod out. I have cover so no harm in letting them see it. Many thanks for coming back. |

Would suggest maybe an issue with the waste pipework then. Do they all drain into the same stack, or are they different sides of the house?
I would possibly lift a manhole cover up outside and see if it's easily done. Then flush one of the toilets and see if it comes through OK. |

Think they are on different stacks. May be a problem further “downstream”!
I have arranged for DynoRod to come out on Monday. I will also have a look tomorrow in daylight. Appreciate the help. Many thanks. |

Having had a similar problem last year, I discovered that my neighbours were too having an issue and after lifting the cover to the interceptor which is on my drive, noticed that the pipe was backing up. Complained to Thames Water and the following day they cleared the blockage and now everything flushes away.
