about 5-7 minutes depending if the street lights are red or green. its only 3 miles from my home to the office and then when i leave work and go to the gym its a whole mile. this is why my car has 4,000 miles after 9 months.

3.5 miles, about 7 minutes...

I dont drive on main roads to get to work. My commute used to be about 15 miles, and it took me an hour. This was before I wisened up, and bought a place much closer to work...

30 min to go 10.5 miles, each way. i take all the inside roads.

during non-commute hours, it should take less than 20 min using the same route.

Too dangerous. The roads are 50mph they just don't move much and have lots of lights. There isn't a sidewalk, and also women have been raped and murdered walking alone at night.

Approx. 45-50 minutes each way. 37.5 miles each way, 3% is city driving. I live in a little podunk ski-hippie town and I commute to the 'city' everyday. I'll be buying my own place in Anchorage soon.... I hope.

Good thing my GTI gets 30+ MPG!

About 1/2 a mile, it takes about two or three minutes depending if I make the light. The car does not even warm.

Travel approx. 15 miles. Mornings = 20 minutes, Evenings = 30-60 minutes. Gotta LOVE the Hollywood freeway!

Dude. You should really walk...

--------
My current commute is <4 miles. Takes 10-20mins depending on stop-lights - there are about 8 of them. Traffic can bump it up to 30-40mins, but that's rare.

I used to do 55miles each way. I figured it out to be almost 2 extra working days a week in the car that I was not paid for. Podcasts, audiobooks and NPR got me through.

I didn't mind the drive, but seeing idiots on the highway doing 70mph+ reading books, on their cellphones, laptops and putting make-up on turned me into a road rage nut. The worst was a guy putting on a pair of pants at wheel!! I saw at least one major accident every 1-2 weeks on the PA turnpike too, which called into question my mortality vs. my job. That fueled the decision to quit that place and do something else.

I hate traffic. When I lived in the city, my commute was 3 blocks. 10 minute walk.

Now I'm in the burbs, but we bought close to my work. 3.5 miles each way. Typical commute is 10 minutes in the morning, 12 minutes in the evening. Hitting all lights = 6 minutes. The worst was on a snow day, all the traffic was dead stopped in Tysons Corner, I felt like it was taking forever but I still got home in less than 20 minutes. This is an excellent commute for the Northern VA area.

I forgot to post mine...it's about 40-45 minutes each way. 30 minutes of it is just getting to and from the freeway.

i feel sorry for all you that have to commute 1+ hours. that sucks!

it takes me about 12 minutes to be at work and that's by bus. so technically, i don't commute. if i had to commute, i'd do everything in my power to either bring my home closer to work or bring my work closer to home.

holy shit dude!! why don't you do something about it?!? that's insane!!

think about it, on a daily bases you spend 4:20 - 5 hours in the car. that's 21 - 25 hours per week. if you get 20 days off per year (on average, vacation + sick days + holidays) and there are 52 weeks in a year - 4 that you're off, that's 48 weeks total, which is 1,008 - 1,200 hours per year you spend commuting!! that's 42 - 50 days a year!!
now, if an average male works from the age of 20 to 65, that's 16,425 days (not counting leap years). that means that if you don't change your current situation, you're going to spend 1,890 - 2,250 days, or 11.5% - 13.7%, of the rest of your life COMMUTING!!!

call me crazy, but i'd rather work at McDonald's flipping burgers 5 minutes away from my house and spending my life the way i want it rather than wasting it by traveling to work 5 hours every day.
