I wonder if Tire Rack could put together a less expensive option? $300 for a steelie wheel and a skinny no name tire seems expensive but then again I've never shopped for a spare tire.

I'm a fan and past customer of Tire Rack, but I'm not sure they have space savers to fit the M2. Skinny leaves you room that a full size tire won't and does no name really matter when you will hopefully never use it and if you do use it... likely only for a day or two? I used a space saver wheel and tire for a spare in my 135is for three years and it gave me peace of mind (had non-run flats on the car) and left me lots of room in the trunk. Put it this way - it beats a can of air and gooey stuff.

So other than carrying a $300 steel donut with a jack kit in your trunk adding weight and stealing trunk space there's no way to have a reliable daily with the M2. I've had 3 punctures already in 4 months which have rendered the car useless for 1-2 weeks each time since nobody has these tires in stock.
