Tuning - 2021 X3MC
Hello All-
New to the forum and already love the community. Recently ordered an X3MC and intend on implementing a Stage 1 tune. This is my first M Car (Current: F15 X5) and would love your recommendations on trusted shops in the Chicagoland Area that can assist. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks! |

Welcome. Not sure if you have a tuner in mind, but BM3 isn't supported for 2021, at least not yet. Link below.

BM3 would be the obvious choice but I believe you can add a piggyback like JB4 or RaceChip. With the M3/4 just released, there will be a rush to find a flash solution and BM3 were estimating in June. Hoping it is sooner than later but certain folks doubt it can be flash tuned. I bought it with the express intent to tune it and struggling to be patient for a flash solution. While the X3 is no slouch, coming from a stage 2 F80 leaves a lot to be desired......

I doubt we'll see anything in June but maybe we'll get lucky. Back in June of 2020 Bosch upgraded their ECUs with new encryption. VAG and BMW both use these products so tuners have been trying to crack this thing for 10 months now with no success.

I suppose it would be the obvious choice for me as I had it on my F80. Had another tune before and liked the smoothness of power, ease of installation, and performance improvement level. I also felt like Bootmod was the most commercially developed/polished when compared against the alternatives (this was totally subjective...). I previously had a COBB tuned 135i and loved how simple and powerful the flash was.

I am guessing it is like the M2 Comp. So I would not hold your breath. It has been over a year and they have not cracked the locked ECU on them yet.
