This does not bode well for the new 4 series

I like it. Modern, sporty. Can't churn out E90, F30 replicas foreveer.

I like it. I think the overall shape, proportions, and stance are great. It looks modern and contemporary but still quite elegant.
The grilles are not what we are used to, but they don't bother me. I now look at some older models and think their grilles look small and pinched! The overall package looks like it will be perfect for me to replace the 330e with in 2 years time. Electric with that range will work perfectly for most day to day stuff, then have the 340 for long journeys.

The performance and the range are good but the front end looks hideous IMO and I'm not a fan of the raised rear.
Define not a car I'd buy.

I have to say I actually like it. I would go as far to say it could be a replacement in four years time.

I agree - the raised rear in side profile makes it look like it’s sticking its arse in the air. The only thing I can hope is that a dark metallic and potentially different wheels might be a bit more sympathetic to the shape.

I quite like the exterior. It’s the interior I find a bit off, especially the seats.

Hmm, the seats don't bother me, but the dash and wheel design is perilously close to a 1984 Amstrad music center.
Then there's that butt. The car didn't look too bad in profile, but when the camera went around the rear, yeesh, baby got back. Maybe it's just that the camera angle is a touch low, but you can be sure that it would look hideous with a US spec number plate. |

Nah, sorry that just looks ugly and way too chunky, definitely not sporty or elegant to me.
If I was in the market for a new car, it wouldn't be a BMW judging by what the current offerings look like. |

Some designers do seem to be heading in the 'complex is clever' direction for the future. Rather than relying on simple elegance and form it seems to be all about how many cuts, creases and angles you can fit into your overall design. In a way it's rather a like a girl who has innate beauty just as she is vs. a girl who's wearing a lot of make-up to look pretty. They both have the desired effect but it's really down to personal preference as to what you like.
If you want to see this done to a Bentley, check out Carfection's new Bacalar video. For me it's the same. Back and sides look ok, front not so much.

Side profile looks lovely, rear less so and the front is awful. Why bother with the monster grille look when it doesn't need air cooling? Yeh, I know it's a 'design feature', but they could have gone for the opposite effect with a sharp, ultra slim nose, which would have been more in keeping with the sleek profile of the car and could have looked great.

I hadn't watched the video all the way through; just took a quick glance at the exterior.
The interior is also a no for me. I'm finding a real aversion to driver 'control centres' which are almost devoid of buttons and other controls. I do not want to have to be leaning/reaching away from my driving position, with eyes off the road ahead, trying to navigate a menu system on a touch screen (with an outstretched hand which will be moving up and down as the car bounces along our crappy UK roads), when an intuitive twist of an aircon dial currently has the same outcome whilst being far quicker and safer. Part of the answer may well lie is vastly improved voice recognition systems, but achieving that with a car full of people and with music in the background is going to be difficult or disruptive (everyone/everything has to be silent in the car).

Really like it! Starting to get some real choice in the EV market now.
Unless they up their styling and interior quality it won't be long before Tesla is a charging network and tech / battery supplier to the big boys. (Unless of course their Chinese investment / gamble pays off big time - which it could...) As an aside very good Carwow video on YouTube on actual range of EVs where selection of cars driven in convoy until their batteries ran out. Kia e-Niro was a real surprise only just losing to long range Tesla 3. |

Hyundai could be taking a very different approach to EV design compared with BMW and the i4 concept.
