I wouldn't reccomend it full stop - does not matter who flashes it, the headunit will reboot because it was never designed to run the ID5 firmware.

Anyone telling you it will run ok without rebooting randomly has a financial motivation.

Thanks, I have had offers for people to flash. No I've got to decide if I want an MMI Box, an Android headunit or someone to upgrade the system to ID5 in toto.

Probably go with the latter as that sounds like the more complete solution. Just more costly. Ha.

Hi Wibbles,

Is this the case even if you aviod using the i drive built in sat nav system and stick with google maps or waze?

So it's likely you will be told that if you don't use the built in nav then the unit won't reboot.

This is not the experience I have observed during testing and the reason why I would never flash anyone's headunit to ID5.

There is a right way to do things and then there is the cheap way - buy cheap, buy twice.

Could someone please help me upgrade my Apple CarPlay to full screen. The software I’m running right now is NBTevo N180921 . I tried doing it with BimmerCode but only got the grayish screen on the side

I currently have OEM CarPlay but it’s only split screen. Currently running NBTevo_M, If I update the software to the latest version, will CarPlay need to be coded in? Or just full screen coding using BimmerCode? Also will the software update cause any issues in the long run?

if you update the firmware to the latest version then you can code fullscreen with bimmercode.

No long term issues.

I have had full screen activated but when I ring someone it starts to play music from my phone in the background any ideas.

I just upgraded to NBTevo_Y and had the patch to full screen. Anyone know how to move the home menu app bar in CarPlay (the one with the time on top) from right side to left?

I don’t have the touch screen and having app menu car on the right is becoming a real pain for me, I need it back on the left how my split screen was. Also when you click options on the iDrive controller, the split screen option has been greyed out so I cannot switch to split screen on car play, can this be changed?

I thought I would love full screen car play but really starting to regret it.
I would be so grateful if someone could help me out.

Got the white screen issue too when trying to go full screen CarPlay. I am currently on NBTevo_U. Called BMW about upgrading to latest version however they don’t seem to have any idea what I’m on about. Any help here would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi, I just coded Apple Carplay fullscreen and got the white box as well. I guess I need an updated iDrive? I am on NBTEvo R. Using ESYS

Can someone send me a pm as to what I need to do? It's a 2019 440i GC (F36)
