You too my friend!

Our governor announced today the closure of all non-essential businesses in my state. And they will have the police patrolling for people not maintaining social distancing. I think they waited too long to implement some of these policies

Same situation here . From today I'm at the company with gloves and a mask on .
Everything is disinfected twice a day, every 12 hours , also the floors with Dettol . I still can not believe it . The smell of the products is very strong .
The image of the situation looks unreal

Hard to believe indeed. At least your employer is taking some precautions to limit the spread of the virus or having you catch it. I recently read an article about how badly UPS is neglecting their drivers and sorting facility workers in the US when it comes to cleanliness and risk mitigation....

If you dont mind me asking, can you perform your work duties from home? I've also seen a lot of posts on social media about businesses here in the US that just refuse to let their employees work from home despite them being able to perform their duties remotely.

Positive . I got from last week a special paper that I'm really required at the company .
Let us say....I'm very essential at the company . But I'm far from relaxed by the invisible danger...
Honestly my friend . I really hope for a complete lockdown ASAP , because once out of my house I realize I'm always in a high risk zone .
Everyone saw a few virus movies from the past . Well , here we are today....

Negative my friend . I can not perform my work at home . I'm engineer , and for the moment I'm testing our new gen. of injection molds and they must be released on time for the production .
We are working for VW , Audi , Ford , Volvo , Jaguar. We are the supplier for the engine power Assy/Connectors , but we manufacture also a 4K glass fiber connector for CommScope in the US .
If we are going in a complete lockdown . The car factories can not build their cars without our connectors in several countries .
So...The pressure and work stress is always pretty high ..

I'm sorry to hear that! I hope the situation improves for you guys and, if not, you can at least go to a complete lock down so you can minimize your risk.

I have to say, your job sounds really cool. Would be awesome to hear some more about it some time

We also will have a lock down here in South Africa, starting on Friday.

Will last for 3 weeks, and I honestly don't know what I am going to do for 3 weeks at home. The economic consequences will be enormous, obviously.

Better to be safe than sorry the saying goes. I'm not sure how bad the situation is in South Africa, but a total lock down seems to be having the desired effect in places where the virus is running rampant.

I'm expecting a lock down some time in the near future over here, so I stocked up on all the parts I need to complete some projects and maintenance on our cars and the house.

For anyone who is interested, here's an interesting article on the reasons why extending the current 2020 season into 2021 wont be easy (if it's even possible):

Lockdown has started here, emergency speech by PM yesterday evening.Supermarkets, newsagents, fuel stations all still open as well as parks for exercising. Other places, pubs, restaurants, cafes, coffee bars, clothes shops etc closed. No groups of people more than two to meet up, any loitering or unnecessary groups together can mean instant fine if caught by the law.

The law is already warning layabouts to move off benches in town centres and parks and youths in playgrounds around the country. Comes into effect Friday.

Indeed.

It is not bad yet, only 500 cases as of yesterday, which in the bigger scheme of things, are not that many. But, as our President said, they want to get the lockdown active as soon as possible, to curb the growth of the virus.

Our biggest problem is the lack of facilities (and money) to effectively deal with Covid once it really starts to spread.

We simply do not have enough hospitals and medical staff to treat this virus.

Thats a very safe and measured approach, one that many countries should have applied a while ago. Meanwhile, in the US the president is talking of ending all precautionary measures because he's afraid of what it will do to the stock market

Looks like postponing the 2021 regulations also means the introduction of 18 inch tires gets pushed back a year as well. Can't say I'm sad about this, I kinda like the current 13 inch wheels/tires

Another official announcement. The Canadian GP is officially postponed.

Bummer for me personally. I was planning on attending this one and going to a meet and greet with Joe Saward (FIA accredited F1 journalist).

I do hope it's true! Unfortunately most of these comments on race postponements are PR speak.

I think the saving grace for Montreal is the geographical proximity to the other races in the Americas. If they were to move it to a date later on in the year, it would likely save the teams money on freight and travel.
