I actually was checking out a gray placid S car in the parking lot of my hotel yesterday. I think it looked pretty decent with carbon fiber, mirror caps, and CF side gills. Although the side gills looked wore out from the sun? What’s up with that? Freaking guy had wheel damage on all four wheels also so he apparently doesn’t give a shit about parking properly. Regardless I liked the color and thought the paint job looked great. |

Not really. I know if i didn't have to exit, that F80 would have passed me but i would probably be at around 110 or so when he did. My model 3 doesn't have top end. We all know this. I know this. It just felt good to know that he probably hates teslas, like all you guys here, yet to get destroyed like that, on the way home from work or where ever he was coming from. Car did look nice though, dropped with a nice set of wheels.

Here is a video of a model 3 on the nurburg ring, the battery starts to overheat only 1:30 into the lap (1:50 minute mark in video).
In a similar video on same track two guys take out a track modified Model 3, the driver mentioned the car starts to cut power shortly after the battery overheats. Overheat starts at 10:20, and driver mentioned power loss at 10:55. the car consumed ~40% of it's battery charge in just one lap at the 12:25 mark. At the end of that one lap at 11:35 the display (dash) shows multiple overheat alarms (tires/brakes/battery). At 13:10 they mention the weight of the car was overheating the tires. At 13:35 he mentions a lap time od 8:13. On the "list" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...eife_lap_times), a BMW Z4 beats that time. Scroll to the bottom of that ^ list, the official non-modified model 3 performance time is 9:00 flat, 5th slowest to make the list. These are not track cars. Autocross or beating minivans at stoplights, sure, maybe... Last edited by chad86tsi; 02-23-2023 at 06:22 PM.. |

when you say "mini vans" is that code for BMW's? seriously, watch more than the two videos....there are several others that show them blow by plenty of BMW's, Audi's, Mercs, etc...and those lap times posted on fastestlaps.com are real and examples of how well the cars perform...less than 2% of the population is ever going to track their car so beating "mini vans" aka BMW's on a daily basis in the real world is much much more likely than worrying about how many laps you can do before recharging Last edited by Socal_R8; 02-23-2023 at 07:19 PM.. |

Seems like a lot of these "won races" stories don't even include the other person being aware a race was "on". I mean, I'm pretty sure I once beat a corvette in my old '83 chevy cavalier, but he may have been going the other way at the time, I was going so fast it was hard to tell |

I let a lot of shitty cars including ones with 1.2 l engines etc win at lights etc while I waft around in mine. For all I know they're on a rush to get somewhere and I'm happy being where I am in mine albeit slow.

well, according to your sig, you drive a school bus these days....your days of racing around in your 83 Cavalier are over....I'm sorry about that. No wonder you're so mad at all these fast EV's while your pumping gas at the local 76 station with that 13mpg you're getting https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=...AAAAAdAAAAABAo just kidding ya Last edited by Socal_R8; 02-24-2023 at 01:50 PM.. |

I don't necessarily have anything against them and I see why they are a great A-B (I don't want to say appliance, as I know the Performance models are very quick) but it's great at what it does I'm sure. For my EV I don't need range as I have other cars, so for now I'm very happy with my i3S. I also love lil' hot hatches, so it would be cool if they came out with a little hatch of some sort maybe in the future.
I will say though, these Tesla drivers have definitely overtaken BMW/Benz/Audi/Accord drivers as the WORST LOL. They are so aggressive, like I get you have a fast 0-60 but like chill out lol. Not saying all are like this, but I have noticed it once the 3 increased in popularity. My guess is a lot of the newer owners haven't owned many "fast" cars and are coming from an ICE which can feel super slow if it isn't a fun one, so they feel the need to show it at every light while I just would rather cruise in my M4 and then enjoy it properly on the canyons haha. THE BEST part about them, surely is the charging network. It's the only EV I would even do any sort of "road trip" in. |

I didn't delete the post. Maybe a salty EV hater reported my post to have it removed. At least get the facts checked. I'm 40 and i am renovating my basement in my house so you have some parts right. Although mommy and daddy don't give me help. I wish they did when i was younger. Maybe i would've been a bimmer owner since the beginning, then i can whine with the rest of you about teslas of today. This is fun. Good to see people aimlessly trying to go off topic because your tampons are still full of blood thinking about our EV future

Maybe because a d-bag like him thinks about those things - haha (and gross)
and it’s a reminder that forums bring out the worst 👎🏻 ……. Back to the program Honda and Toyota, for example, are conservative companies, not projecting their near-futures on EV. And proceeding carefully with long term plans I think. Smart, respected Japanese companies. GM and Ford, for example, seem to thrive on bold, throw-down statements and plans. We’ll see how that plays out for them, right? I’ll give Elon credit. He pushes the so-called standards. But autos are (or used to be) emotional (and expensive) purchases. When you calculate the dollars involved for car purchases over a career for example it’s greater than what you might admit, or put into your house even, perhaps. Or at least close. Which by most financial advisors, not advised. But the emotion involved drives people to spend more than they should, anyways. Personally I try to beat the trend/ norms- I hold onto my rides and try to counter the constant outlay (AKA - payments) while having always-reliable transport for my family members. Tricky. Which takes me back to: EVs. They’re young. Can’t say I trust them yet with my treasure (by that I mean my loved ones). It’s why I started this thread to begin with. I’m always on the lookout for articles about safety.
