My dealership told me they had an allocation for May production and July delivery. I placed the order Saturday 3/15. To my knowledge they won't have a launch car, and the SA said they had a pre-production prototype at their dealership 2 weeks ago behind closed doors for a very short period of time. He said it sounded awesome, but he disliked the YMB color. I have no reason to believe he was fibbing about said allocation and prototype, but he didn't offer proof either.

So Jimmy, word on the street (at least today's rumor) is that dealer's, specifically a "SoCal large dealer" now has allocations. What have you or David heard/received?

There has been no allocation released yet to anyone just launch cars at this time. Should know more about allocation first part of April fingers crossed

Are launch cars buyer configurable, or they all a factory set build?

Thanks

Does that mean they were configurable, and then got locked in, or have not to this point been configurable at all?

Thanks!

Starting to seem that way yea? The lack of information is the freaking worst. I keep finding myself becoming interested in M5s and try to reel myself back down.

Go drive that M5. It will change your mind. That being said, one was driving next me today when I was in my 911. Man, the M5 looks mean rolling down the road. I hope the M3 looks as mean in person.

What's the best guess on when the banks open? My dealer has been saying any week now, for well, a few weeks.

Dealers only know how many cars they are getting as of today. US allocations have not been released to any one in the US yet. You dealer sold you a car on an educated guess and they will not be able to give you a production number or date until sometime in April. However first week is looking like it.

Seems pretty apparent that no one, including dealers, have any idea.

Golffr has been saying "soon" since January. It's nothing personal against him, I just don't think BMW is telling them anything

I saw your thoughts on your test drive and I am trying to remind myself of that each time I see an M5.

Could you clarify this a bit? I read it as this: Dealers have been informed of how many cars they'll have for 2014, but do not know which months they'll become available.
