I was thinking what about heavy duty clear plastic ? Perhaps something like this, cut to fit with scissors and secured via the seats that fold down at the top, as in fold over between from the trunk( Might have to secure it to the backside of the seat in the trunk, not sure how tight the gaps are)? I would think you could multi-layer it to be as thick as you want

Great thread, since I've been looking for something for our X5. This looks perfect, but... How big is your shepherd? So, do you put it in your back seat then have your dog climb in or put him/her in it then move it to your car? I have a 100 lb lab and I think he might shit egg rolls if I tried to put him in that thing...
I'd use this (link below) for an x5. Which is in my Jeep Wrangler. My GS is 85 lbs and she loves it. It pops open like a kids tent and only takes a few seconds to setup. She hops right in after its on the car seat. Never had any damage to my car and it makes her feel safe like she's in a large crate.

Nice, I'd like to keep him from sliding around though and that tube you have would be perfect. Just trying to figure out the logistics in my head, lol. That's why I was considering a rear seat set up. I wonder if one of those harnesses would work with that link you gave though. Thanks for replying.

I just ordered this on Amazon... I'll take pictures when it arrives. 2-day shipping, free with Prime membership!!!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=AH6CEZVYZ2B2C

Also got the matching door guards. I plan on using the metal brackets on the package tray to attach in back and just looping the straps around the front head rests.

Take some pics and let us know how that works. Looking for a good solution for dogs and to protect the seats and sides of the car.

This is our temp set up, we have two Beagles.

The straps weren't big enough to get around the rear headrests so I used one of those giant twist ties to secure it to. Haven't yet dog tested. Actually, I don't even have a dog. This is really just so I can take my friend to the airport who has a service dog.

However, we do have (4) cats who will ride back there once or twice a year to go to the vet.

Also, I put the door guards on backwards because the softer side is actually suppose to face out. The soft surface is like a velour... shouldn't that be touching my car? Besides, the nylon matches the seat cover portion. The underside of the seat cover portion has tiny little dots that are suppose to be "anti-slip" but don't really seem like it.

Canine co-pilot, part deux

When I got my e92 back in 2011, Betty was just a pup who I rarely took in the car with me.

Now that she's significantly larger there is no chance on earth she gets into my car unless it's an absolute emergency.

Anyone else bring their dog in the car with them? And if so, what kind of protection do you use? I want to keep something in the trunk over and above a bunch of towels in the event I have to put this bitch in the car.

Beautiful dog. I put mine up front once to see if he would fit. At 105 lbs it was a close fit but he managed to get in. We didn't go anywhere, but I was glad he got to see me enjoying the car. Dogs are just the best.

Rabies Alfonso sleeps in Peters trunk for his naps and before eisenmann he loved riding in there too. After eisenmann he has had to endure the life of a backseat dog.

My tip: Do not buy a dog that has the fur of a Dalmatian of apparently jack Russell.

Great looking pup. I have a weim too. We don't go on many car rides except for a trip to a farm, dog park or holiday. I just use a blanket and he has not caused any harm.

Back Seat Cover for F80

So looking for a little assistance here -

I am looking for a back seat cover to protect the leather from my dog. I had one for my F10 which was pretty decent. It had loops that clicked around the head rests and holes that allowed the seat belts through. Only issue was there was no weight at the bottom so sometimes with wind it would flip up but i could deal with it.

Now I moved to the F80 with its one piece seat design and I am stuck. Anyone else find something works well?

You will need to add non-scratching headrests straps to this puppy (like the photo above) but it should work, though. Anything else have to be secured via removable headrests -which you do not have.

THANK YOU ! This looks pretty good, just wondering how it secures on both ends. Are you currently using it by any chance?

EDIT :Oh just realized my thread was moved... damn the admins are quick and I am such a repeat offender. Gotta do a better job of searching.
