Dude do you own an M3 SMG, cuz if you did you would realize that all E46 M3's have hill assist, you hold the left shift paddle for about 2 sec. to engage it, you then have about 3-5 sec. to press the gas, one of the many functions of the drivelogic system, either that or you know nothing about you car

It will have the 7speed SMGIII or a 7speed DSG and a standard 6spd available. The SMG is a manual gearbox, not automatic, too much power will never be an issue when your talking numbers in the 400-500 randge for any car.
