Ontario is ok. It's slowly being developed. Rent will be cheaper if you live there. Without traffic, the drive to major cities is not bad. Nightlife? Hmm, i'd think not much, but i could be wrong.
If you live in the North OC the drive is about 30mins if there's no traffic. You can also look at Claremont, that city is pretty nice. |

From what my direct boss told me is it is more of a west coast job and not driving job. Which if that is the case and he is right I would work from home and travel to clients not to our office. Crossing my fingers because then I could live almost anywhere around there.

i went to school in riverside and i just remember that ontario was where the closest airport was to me. I don't remember much, but we used to go to this huge mall over there.

Yeah Ontario isn't the best of places to be... besides the Ontario Mills mall, there is nothing mcuh around there.. lots of industrial buildings and open land... Plus, the surrounding areas have a huge drug problem... cops there are assholes.
If you have to work in Ontario, then you should live somewhere closer to Diamond Bar/Brea area, Chino Hills are much nicer cities and every morning your commute would be against traffic and the same coming home so you won't have to waste your time driving each day. You should do the majority of your research by reading this: http://www.dailybulletin.com/ that's the inland valley newspaper that has all the info you need.. crime rates, etc. good luck |

Santa Ana is not exactly a nice place. If you want to be in north OC, Brea would be good, or parts of fullerton, Anaheim Hills. Diamond Bar is good too, next to the 57 if you need to go to Ontario, yet close to the 60 if you are heading to LA. Chino Hill is even closer to Ontario.

I was in Ontario yesterday. Some Nice homes around there. Worst case if you dont like it, you can live in Brea and drive 15 min to Ontario. I like Brea alot.

I want to add that Fontana and Rialto are right next door to Ontario and for those who dont know Fontana&Rialto, its practically half government housing/projects there.
Its really bad! To the OP, go alil further south like others have mentioned. Fullerton/brea is nice. If you want nicer, then Irvine/Tustin. If you want nice + a night life, Pasadena is your place. i personally like this town. Its always happening, go figure why i spend most of my weekends there. GL

Ok from my experience being a native Californian and having lived in L.A. County, Orange County, and San Bernardino County or Inland Empire as it's called where Ontario is, the best place would be Orange County. Now it's California, there's always going to be traffic, it's hard to get away from it regardless of where you live these days IMO. So to break it down:
L.A. County: You're at the heart of everything. Nightlife, shops, traffic, smog, crime hey it's L.A. It's weird sometimes because you'll be driving through a really nice neighborhood and 5 miles down the road you're in the ghetto. That's L.A. in a nutshell. Traffic and smog, really bad. San Bernardino County (Inland Empire): The HEAT is killer! Extreme weather, it's either super hot, or it's super cold. Now, where I live in Rancho Cucamonga the city is really nice. Some people call it the Beverly Hills of the I.E. People enjoy their Lattes here just as much in L.A. There's Victoria Gardens which is kind of like Rodeo Drive...good place to hang out and chill. Yardhouse is pretty cool. Also, you're about 2-3 hours from Las Vegas and close to the local casinos (Pechanga, Morongo)if you're into that. Smog is bad, traffic is getting there. Orange County: Where i'm from originally, Huntington Beach you can't beat the weather. Almost Mediterranean like at times. The overcast rolls in from the coast in the morning and doesn't dissipate until afternoon. Also Orange County is in the middle of everything. You can be in L.A. or Inland within 30min to an hour depending on traffic. Though housing is a bit higher it's because you are paying for premium location. Great nightlife! Hopefully someday i'll be able to move back to Surf City. The only thing though i noticed is that it is getting crowded and traffic is just as bad or is as bad as LA. If Orange County would be your choice, stick with the beach cities like Huntington, Newport, Laguna Niguel...oh, a lot of babes out there. Didn't you say you were single? Man I miss the OC. Hope this helps. |

Just commute into Ontario and you will have tons of options... Pasadena, OC, etc...
You'll be MUCH closer to longtran if you were out here in CA.

I had to laugh when you mentioned Santa Ana. It is the largest city in Orange County (not Anaheim as most people think) and also the most crime ridden (with the exception of a couple areas near South Coast Plaza).
I've also lived in a lot of places here. I grew up and lived in the I.E (having lived in Moreno Valley, Riverside, and Corona). I've also lived in LA County (Bellflower), and now South Orange County (Aliso Viejo). I can also advise on most areas. If you're looking in Huntington Beach, realize that its a fairly sizeable city (200k people) and you can be 15 minutes from the beach and still be in the city. There are nice areas for sure. Based on your criteria, I would actually go for the gusto so to speak and move to Newport. It seems you could afford to rent a nice condo there right on the beach even. You'll have it all, the nightlife, the beach, shopping. Beware though, it is the stereotypical California lifestyle there. Fake boobs, flaunting of wealth, Lambos/Ferraris/Bentleys galore. |
