Anyone done a recent PCD?

Has anyone done a PCD since they limited it to only X vehicles? Other than just being all X vehicles is anything different during that day? Are they getting scheduled faster now that there are less cars that can do it?

I'm scheduled for week 23 (June 3-9). Just trying to estimate how soon after that PCD might get scheduled. I know it was usually a month out in the past.

Also heard they got rid of the free Marriott and the factory tour is closed. They just keep deleting all of the things (ED?) that help with brand loyalty. Do they just take you to the BMWCCA museum instead? That's what they did during my first PCD when the factory was closed.

My build date moved up a couple days. I was 3-4 weeks out on scheduling. I do believe they are lighter in volume than last year.

FWIW I did PCD last year for my wife's X7 and they have since removed some language in the email to the dealer indicating how "high the demand was" for PCD. I do believe that they have re-opened to all cars as of recent.

It is frustrating to see some of the fringe perks dwindling. I would absolutely love to do another ED. There's still a definite cost savings dealing with a national dealer vs local markup to doing PCD, though that cost delta is dwindling.

As a datapoint. I was issued a production number on 3/15. Build date assigned to mid April. I was contacted on 3/22 with a pcd date on may 10 that I booked.

Car built but there is a stop sale for almost all x’s built in April so I had to cancel pcd. Lots of others in the same boat so I’d imagine that there are lots of open slots available in May if people want to try to get the delivery moved earlier (assuming that it was built after 4/20 and not subject to stop sale.)

Scheduling window - must be done before 151 production status, and PCD date minimum 2 weeks post production, max 6 weeks post production.

We did PCD this past Thursday. What you heard is mostly accurate. There was a guy picking up an M3, so it’s not explicitly limited to X Savs. They do not cover the hotel, but they recommend hotel Hartness, it’s very nice and they do some minor perks for pcd customers. The reason given for the factory tour being closed- ils they are building a steel stanmping plant. They took us to the zentrum- dm me if you have other questions.

Thanks. Did you stay at the hartness? What kind of perks do they offer? Looks like they are about equidistant as the Marriott and the Marriott was actually a little bit cheaper when I looked.

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...mentid=3454892 This was posted by another member and is quite informative. If you wanna make it a memorable trip I can recommend the Grand Bohemian. It’s a fabulous hotel in a great setting. Downtown Greenville is fantastic. If my wife/sig other was goin with me that’s what I’d do.

It's just my car guy friend and I so I guess we won't need the Bohemian. It does look quite nice though. Interesting that the recommend the Spartanburg Marriott and not the stalwart Greenville Marriott, which is actually closer.

I hear the Greenville Marriott is a bit ragged and in need of a remodel.

Well, that's certainly true. I think we've stayed there probably 7 times now and it's just kind of become 'the BMW hotel' for our trips there, especially since most of the stays have been paid for by BMW. Definitely could use a refresh though.

Yes. Hartness was very nice. We purchased a dine and stay package which was for PCD customers. Get $150 in restaurant credit for $100. They also gave us coupons for complimentary drinks, spa discounts, and a bmw crest shaped dessert in the room.

I'm going to put this out here:

https://www.bmwgroup-werke.com/spart...um-museum.html

The plant is now offering an abbreviated version of the tour called "Best fit body shop glimpse tour". This is where you will be able to see robotic door matching and installation as well as some welding. It's not assembly hall - but still cool to see.

I saw that. I think that was the tour I had my first time there. It was interesting, but definitely not as exciting as seeing the cars through to the finished product. I wonder if they'll sub that during the PCD.

Ah, I missed the fact that you actually did that tour as part of your PCD.

Looks like BMW still has some hotel connections and discounts for the PCD.

Correct, I think the Grand Bohemian is around $400 per night an a little further away as it's downtown by the river. There was also some chatter in another thread that they weren't facilitating airport or transfers to the performance center. I am booked at the Hartness - it's closer and about half the price. Will report back in a few weeks.
