Clunking noise in drivetrain when pressing clutch in
Hi All.
I get a clunking noise when depressing the clutch at slow speed in 1st and 2nd gear. It only happens at low rpm/slow speed. Not sure if it's always been there and normal. I don't think it's related to the diff. I have no clunking with a change of load at slower speeds; it's only when the clutch is depressing. The car is super smooth when shifting at speed and higher RPM. Also, I have an Auto Solutions short-shift kit and the Ultimate Clutch Pedal. But I don't think that they are contributing. Cheers! |

Mine does this as well, but at slightly lower speeds than what I saw for you. Pretty sure it's just clutch chatter from a high performance clutch. I wouldn't really worry about it, others may have different experience. This is based on my own M2C.

It feels clutch or flywheel related. All my other manual cars have had lightened single mass flywheels, so they made a good bit of noise at idle but not any noises like this on clutch disengagement at low speed. |

The iPhone mic is not doing it justice; it's mechanical and sounds like it is coming from the front. I have burbles coded off.

I have the same thing on my 2018. The faster I push in the clutch the louder the clunk/rattle. Seems most prominent in 1st and reverse.
I think its normal rigid M car noises and Ive just learned not to push in the clutch fast at low speeds in 1st gear or reverse. If I had to guess, i think its drivetrain slop in the driveshaft/diff that is lashing back the other way when load is removed.
