M2 Badge location
Does anyone the exact measurements to place the M2 badge? I've had some paint work done and the badge had to come off.
I should have measured the position from the right side and bottom edge of the tailgate first. Please can anyone help me out with the measurements? Last edited by gareth09; 09-29-2017 at 11:54 AM.. |

I’ve seen the badge installed at the factory where they use a jig and it takes about 5 seconds to install. Without the jig, it’s going to be hard to get it exactly right as it’s pretty hard to measure precisely.
I don’t know how you are going to mark the location on the car as you measure it but here’s what I can tell ya. You need a reference point. The best one is the roundel in the center of the trunk/tailgate . The center line of the roundel and the TOP of the M2 badge are in line. I think you’ll need someone to help you hold a level on the center point of the roundel and line it up as best you can with the center line on the roundel…and I guess somehow draw a line about where the badge is located. Once you have the line, measure 501 mm from the center point of the roundel to find the top left location point of the badge. As long as you keep it level with your line, that’s all you need but I’ve put some other measurement below if they help. Good luck.

Even though this thread is quite old, I thought it might be helpful to answer.
I recently replaced my badge as the original one was wonky and showed signs of age. I followed your picture and measurements, dtmurf but it didn't work out. I placed a straight line from the center line of the roundel, and then measured 501mm from the center... it's way too far over to the right. So I measured from the right side, and the bottom, and stuck the badge on. Looks exactly as in your picture. From the center of the roundel it is actually 410mm. Hope this helps everyone. |

Is it possible that the different versions of the M2 have slightly different widths of trunk lids Lanze1981? That could explain why your measurement is so different from the original above.
