2 Axel Air Suspension Availability
Just ordered a MY 24 X5 xDrive40i M Sport Skyscraper with Coffee Extended Merino Leather and the following options:
I’m coming from a MY 21 X5 xDrive40i that has the 2 axel air suspension with 20” AS RFTs. Super smooth ride. There wasn’t any availability for Air Suspension when I ordered. Wondering two things.
Thanks All! |

Air suspension hasn't been available on the 40i in a few years (in fact, I believe around 2021 when all options started falling off was the end of it for the 40i, so you may have one of the last ones).
It's highly unlikely an exception can be made to have it added to your build. Have you driven the 2024 without air suspension? It is a different ride, not necessarily worse, but different so make sure you like it before you order it. |

His post makes sense to me, he wants a new car but thought he could order it with air suspension but thanks to farsmarka post now will know he can't.

You must order an X5 50e or X6 40i to make the air suspension happen in the USA. Sorry about that.
It has nothing to do with convincing your SA - the option simply isn’t available for the X5 40i.

given the model year difference, could be his lease was up and didn’t want to keep it or it wasn’t worth buying out. |

Haven’t but it’s not going to make me cancel my order. Wondering if I should go all in on the “sport” options and change my tire order from 20s to 21s.

21s are less forgiving when they come into contact with potholes and bumpy roads. You do you, but the regular suspension and air suspension are noticeably different. A 15-20 minute test drive should help confirm if it's a ride you want for the next 3 years. |

you may get a slightly firmer ride with 21” due to shorter sidewalls. 20” is a decent compromise between looks and comfort since you won’t have air suspension. also, 21” tires are staggered sizes; that plays a part in replacements and maintenance

You will miss a few features in the newer one, like the optional 3rd row and air suspension, and some more.

Upgrade to a 50e! Same B58 TU2 with added EV assist... then the air suspension is a reality!
Love to know if BMW re-calibrated the air suspension for the LCI as I did test drive a pre LCI 40i with both air suspension and the off riad toggle and it was smooth but a little more 'lean' in corners than normal m sport suspension |

Dod they re-calibrate the air suspension for LCI though? I recall viweing the 'AutotopNL' you tube vid where he states that the 45e air suspension was a bit 'floaty' on Autobahn in Netherlands... mind you he was thrashing it at 200kph +

Test cars made it to germany with rear wheel steering and similar options normally not available… i would try it with MY 25. I preferred the 40i vs 50e and waited apprx 9 month for it to arrive. Drives great and consumption is less than I thought it would be |
