BMW didnt update the remote start for V8s. I got a hold of BMW just to double check and they said only MY2022 have them for ours. You would have to purchase it anyways. Im thinking smartstart by Viper or something. I know how much they are. Had them installed in our cars when I live in Alaska for 8 years. Just drives me nuts a car like this doesnt have the option but I know Europe has laws against it so I guess it makes sense.

If you bought the remote parking package, regardless of year, your car remote starts. I dont know what hardware is required, but it should be very minimal. Mostly software. I dont understand why BMW wont allow it. Silly.

BM3 hit me up on a Sunday and updated my maps to the newer software. Stage 1 93 Octane installed and all I can say is wow. Ive turned this into a project for me and my 16 yo and the shit eating grin on his face when I punched it was ear to ear.

Super stoked to get the dp's on and bump to stage 2. I also cant say enough about BM3 support and helping get this done on their day off. Really awesome.

How do know if your DMEs are locked? Also, can the BM3 unlock them?

What’s your year? 20 up have a high probability of being locked. Get on the protuningfreaks website and send them a chat. You can send your vin over and they can check that way.

Mine is a 2020 with a 11/19 build date. Anything prior to 06/20 build date is good I believe. No, BM3 does not unlock your DME. Gotta get it done at a shop. You wont know unless you get it hooked up and see.

Mine is a 7/19 build 20’. No go. Not sure if it was like that from factory- or an update that was completed.

You should definitely be able to get it bench unlocked (both of them). Mine was locked as well, probably by an update or something. Had dealers do another update and bench unlocked the next day. Shop thought it was unlocked at first already cuz they could read the car but didnt try a flash. Then I tried to install BM3 and no go. After the bench unlock, you can upload BM3 or any other tune.

Are you saying that BM3 just updated their 93 octane Stage 1 tune? Mine says "Version 1.0" released 2021-01-28 and "no updates available at this time." We both drive a 2020 (N63T3) so presumably we're running the same OTS tune.

Oh yea, there is a place in Dallas that can do it for me. Not sure if the lady misquoted or it was per. I asked for the total for the two DME- she quoted $400. BM3 is the one that recomnded them. I’m about 1.5 hours from there. So I need to get over there. The JB4 is great, there is a lot on the table still tho.

Just shoot them an email. The version they uploaded didnt match the currdnt software version of the car. We hooked up, gave BM3 access to the car and they took over and replaced the tuning software.

I paid 300 here in south fl so not too far off.. Once you get bench unlocked, you will be good to go.

Mine is working fine and I presume you must have a newer I-Step since I believe you just got yours updated. I'm on S15A-21-03-535. Could you check your BM3 map and see if it's also showing Version 1.0 with a date of 1/28/2021?

My version reads 0.40.015. Here is what I sent BM3. Again, the only reason the software differed is because when I bought the map pack and they uploaded it to my account and tried to flash, they realized my DMEs were locked but the maps were there and saved once I unlocked the car. I then went and got updated by BMW so the software in the car changed from what they initially read.
